I never start on regular doses, regardless of what the Lyme doctors say, because my body simply cannot tolerate it. I know we're supposed to surprise the infections so they won't get resistant or mutate, but regular doses would kill me.
I start at a fraction of the dose of everything. Twice, my LLMDs prescribed the pediatric version of a drug (sometimes have to get it compounded) and I ramp up slowly and eventually make it to the adult version.
If not, I take the regular medication and either split it if it's a tablet, or buy empty capsules and put a few grains of the stuff in it. Or if it's an herbal tincture, I literally start with a drop in water and sometimes even a sip will flatten me.
I have methylation detox problems and probably far more detox problems than we've even tested yet.
I've been in treatment for five years and I still have to do things that way - even though I'm assume my infection load is lighter.

I started slow, as in 2% to 5% of the doses I see many others here reporting, and ramped up. I herxed plenty. IMO, if you are feeling horribly ill from herx, it's your body telling you to ease up.

I never allowed my body to be overloaded. I'm grateful for the way my LLMD handled things. I'm sure your very qualified LLMD will do the same and allow you to go at your own pace.

I have had to start at baby doses too. I am really sensitive to almost everything, and it works best for me to start really low dose and work up slowly.

My and my daughter's appointment was Monday. My LLMD gave me an IM Claforan injection. I vomited and had diarrhea the whole way home. I called him and asked if I could start out with half of the injection dose that he has rxd me. He said I could certainly, even maybe just 1/8 of the dose. So,...yes, straight from the horses mouth in my case.
