I always tell people something that Burrascano has said in reference to Southern Lyme. As we know, it's USUALLY another tick , the ixodes or lone star tick that CAN cause this but we all know it's not the pesty little ticks who give us this blessed disesase..
Southern Lyme can have less or no joint issues, more muscular problems, more neuro problems that can't be 'seen' ( which is a symptom not a sign) and many more 'complaints' that can be a few weeks of this/that and the other-labelling us crazy..
Of course this applies to all of us, but the arthritic problems are sometimes not present in many (not all for sure) of the cases in the south.
If anyone has any articles or references/stories I would like to hear them! I have rare joint problems, constant muscle fatigue/weakness, headaches, daily fever, bells pasly, sinustis (chronic), tachycardia, abdominal bloating/pain/cramiping and IBS like symptoms, to name a few off of my list..
Just wondering if anyone has found anything as a good tool in case one were to need 'backup' to take to the MD for more 'proof'.
I don't need it but am asking for a fellow user here.
I think many who travel to the south can get it but in the north, they FIRST look for the arthritis and a few other tell tale signs and when they don't see them they can sometimes miss it as well (if a primary doc and someone wants to have them consider the possibility , not an LLMD) Thanks for your help!

No not at all . Just good ole Lyme-Bb-- in the south folks with it tend to have a little variation in symptoms from the north..
This could be more of a poll question as well but if there are publishings out there that would be great. I am pretty crafty finding them but this is one that I have had trouble with today.
Most docs don't talk of the difference but there really seems to be something in common with us as Burrascano speaks of..
Of course we are all different for sure.. Just am researched to death and don't find anything on this or if anyone has written up a list of more common problems with lyme patients in the south. May not be in exsistence..
The STARI does come up often and that wasn't what I was referring to. There's a whole other can of worms right there!

The fatigue is my worst problem. I have Lyme and Ehrlichia. It is hard to find information on Ehrlichia, I think they just found out about it in 1972........the year I was born.
I do have joint pain in my knees and hands, but fatigue and headaches are my major complaints.

From Mississippi, fatigue is my worst symptom, but also had pain, not just in the joints, a lot of my pain felt muscular. I have lots of neuro symptoms.
My LLMD says that LD in the south is different from LD in the north. But I don't know in what way.

Actually, folks can have mild to severe levels of symptoms and few to many variations... even when living next door to each other (in the north or south)... or over in the next county from one another.
So I am not sure what you are talking about? Sorry, I've never heard Dr. B talk about "the south" being different, at least not in such huge geographical terms... or as a sole entity... from everywhere else.
We know that there are "geographical pockets" out there that presented differently... which use to be very pronounced years ago and also use to be from one county to another or one state area to another, not in mass generalizations...
But the species/strains are mixing, subdividing and multiplying so much now that it is difficult to say who came from where just by their symptoms.
Now, how about this... could the folks in the south that don't appear to you to have as much arthritis ... well...
Could that be because the climate isn't as brutal here and prone to aggravate those types of symptoms?
After all, many folks go to the warmer climates because it improves their arthritis.. or makes it go away.
Just a thought.
