I have never had a problem, but I would try MSM or another natural treatment first. My LLMD does not want his patients to take NSAIDS at all.
Every now and then I cave because MSM doesn't seem to do it, but I always regret it. It makes the pain go away temporarily but it always comes back WORSE. They call that a rebound affect.

I don't think there would be a problem taking Ibuprofen. You shouldn't take it long-term. I take pain meds when I'm really hurting.

If you ever have questions about taking certain drugs together and don't know if they are safe together, you can go here. I've found it very helpful when I have these type of questions: http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php

Don't take any drugs like that (NSAID's), with fluoroquinolones (like cipro or levaquin)--it's a recipe for brain damage.
