I think I'm going to call LLMD tomorrow and tell him some little symptoms have come back after 8 years.

I don't want IV meds because I do not see how in the world I would work out (aerobics and weight lifting) with this port thing. [Mad]

Is there a way to do IV without that or this line everyone talks about? Would orals even be effective again?

They got rid of all symptoms the first time....maybe 9 months wasn't enough. What does Flagyl and Zithromax target exactly?

Has anyone been symptom free for a long time then developed symptoms again (without another bite) and were give orals again successfully?

Would the second go around involve less time?

Just my opinion, many won't agree; but if you went 8 years without any symptoms, I would wonder if maybe you were bitten again and re-infected.

I don't think IV's would be necessary. Most people that I know that are well, did it on orals.

I would get to LLMD as soon as possible to possibly shorten length of treatment.

maybe if you got on an oral antibiotic for lyme and the cyst, along with heparin and a good detox protocol. You could go without IV's... but I can't decide that

It is not unusual to relapse during a time of stress on the body or mind or as one ages. Anything that decreases the function of the immune system may cause a relapse.

Borrelia has a cystic form that can survive in the tissues for many years and then come out when the immune system is not functioning at optimal levels.

If you weren't diagnosed and treated for any co-infections that you had at the time of your initial treatment, there is probably a greater chance of relapse. Especially with some co-infections because they are very depressing to the immune system.

I know a number of people who have gotten well on orals. Some of us need IV. I think most LLMD's would try orals first but of course they would use their judgement based on your history and current condition etc...

If you are doing aerobics and weight lifting and only have a few symptoms, I would expect that you would end up on orals initially and may never need IV but again, it would be up to your LLMD's judgement.
