I know this sounds ridiculous, so feel free to tell me if I'm truly going crazy. I've had a horrible flare up for almost 3 weeks now, and the ONLY thing that has changed as that I went on Tazorac for acne. Now i know this may sound ridiculous, but do you guys think its at all possible for a product thats applied topically to somehow get into my bloodstream and cause some sort of flare up? I had been doing well for a while, just on Samento and accupuncture, but the last 3 weeks have been awful. Just wanted to see what you guys thought... Thanks to all, and I wish health to all. I hate this fu&*&* disease that I've been plagued with for the last ten years.

My daughter had a flare when she used Benzoclin for her acne. It has clindomyacin in it.
Yes, anything we put on our skin is detected in every organ of our body within 26 seconds. The skin is a living, breathing organ that is constantly functioning to detox and regulate temperature.
Hoe this helps. Kelmo

I had to break up the post to be able to read it. So, for others with neuro lyme & or jumpy eyes, here's the post with some white space added:

Kelmo is right. Our skin is the largest organ of the body and it absorbs everything we put on it.
Clindamycin, huh? Lifewithlyme.. maybe yours has abx in it too? You're herxing then.

Q: Can products we apply topically cause flares???
Yes. Absolutely. That is why Dr. Burrascano says to avoid all steroid creams, of any kind, even tiny doses. Anything we put on our skin can be absorbed in as little as 26 seconds. It's pretty remarkable, really.
I wonder what exactly is in Tazorac. But, still, if you are reacting systemically, some changes are in order.
Does anyone else have other suggestions for what else might work?

I even get flares for a week from breathing stuff like perfumed products or a whiff of diesel exhaust.
Tazorac is a topical prescription strength retinoid.

Tazorac does not seem to be a steroid, which is good. Still, if you are taking certain antibiotics, this should not be taken. You can find out if your abx are in the classifications by going to the web sites for your specific Rx.
TAZORAC (tazarotene) Cream 0.1% is indicated for acne vulgaris.
TAZORAC (tazarotene) Gel 0.1% is indicated for mild to moderate facial acne vulgaris.
Excerpts:
Warnings
Retinoids may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Do not use TAZORAC Cream and Gel if you are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant or at high risk of pregnancy.
. . .
TAZORAC Cream and Gel should not be used if you are also taking other drugs that increase your sensitivity to sunlight
