I am still suffering from severe stomach pain which comes on anywhere from 8 to 24 hours after eating. Pain under ribs, goes through back, yada, yada, yada.

So just how bad can lyme GI issues be?

And would a llmd treat the GI issues also? I mean, could a LLMD give pancreatic enzymes or prevacid, or something? or must you go to a gastro for those? cause here in Texas, you won't find a gastro who believes in lyme?

GI stuff is my worst symptom (gastroparesis) GI doctors were able to diagnose it but just want to give you a drug and then kick you out.

I think antacids are the worst things you can take, a lot of symptoms can be caused by too little hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

A naturopath I went to prescribed L-glutamine to heal the gut for anywhere from one to two months, then he prescribed Betaine HCL to take with every meal containing a good amount of protein.

The hydrochloric acid helps you break down the foods and actually helps take away acid reflux.

You take the Betaine for as long as you need it until you are able to wean off of it without symptoms (possibly several months, or a year or two).

It helps train your stomach to produce the right amount of acid on its own. Once your stomach is doing that, you don't need to take it anymore (or you take a very low maintenance dose).

I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in August 2007, but I now feel it was a misdiagnosis. I was finally properly diagnosed with Chemical Sensitivity in February 2011. My life has changed drastically since then.

You may want to consider enterovirus as a possible cause of your stomach problems.

My worst stomach issue used to be diarrhea and just plain stomach pains.
I no longer suffer from this since adding some of the amino acids and changing my diet

Hi Randi,

I just posted about some of my severe GI issues in another thread, and a lot of knowledgeable people responded with advice and ideas. Maybe some of those ideas would help you? I hope so. Here's a link to the thread:

If any of our GI symptoms are similar, I wouldn't mind comparing notes with you.

My GI issues involve constipation. Missing one BM sends my body into a tail spin. I also have gastritis.

These sx have lead to hemorroids both external and internal. Vicious cycle with me.

These sx weren't part of the original illness 10 yrs ago. They came on 5 yrs later after more tick bites. I am pretty darn sure it's bart from lone star nymphs.
