I am looking for a very experienced LLMD, with not much luck so far. I want someone who has a very definitive plan of how they will treat me, how long they will treat me, what they will treat me for. So far not much luck.
I live in New York City and I have Lymenet's recommendations, but Dr. R. is too expensive for me. Called Dr. Y's office, and I can afford at least a first visit. But he's a neurologist and my main symptoms are arthritis thigns, not neuro things. Does anyone see him?
I don't have a car, so I can't see the doctors surrounding the city, like the ones in LI, etc. I can't afford to drop $300 or more on a doc that I don't know anything about so I'm really counting on people here to give me some feedback. Thanks!

We had a bad experience with Dr. Y (saw him for almost 1 year)...It's a long story, but I would never recommend him to a fellow Lyme patient.

Hubby also had a bad experience. Definitely would not recommend him if you are short of cash -- wanted $6800 for testing which would not have been covered by insurance except for maybe a little bit.

I have been seeing him for many months. Please feel free to email me with any questions. However, he is not my primary LLMD but rather treats me from a neurologist perspective.
While he does not accept insurance, I haven't had any problem submitting any of his appointments or tests to my insurance company for reimbursement.

I agree, Dr. R is absolutely the way to go in my opinion. The cost may seem unreasonable initially but you won't be sorry or disappointed.
