I am confused and hope someone here can help clear things up a bit.
On my WB I had a few bands show + or ind but not enough for CDC diagnosis.
I just did the urine pcr test with Igenix and of three samples one came back positive.
My ND told me that this is about as good as gets getting a diagnosis.
He already diagnosed me clinincally but felt better with the treatment with this result.
I am finding it harder and harder to maintain my job. My boss is very understanding and suggested I ask HR for medical leave.
I can't get possibly get that without a clear diagnosis. I know in the Lyme world that is pretty impossible.
From what I understand about the urine pcr test it misses alot of people with the disease but if you are forunate enough to get a positive result then its better then the WB.
So I was ready to go discuss with my HR department and saw that this test is also not CDC diagnosis. ugh!
What are people's opinions of this test? Is it as good diagnosis you are going to get 8 years after the fact?
I understand the politics of all this for the most part but I thought it was around clinical diagnosis and less than 5 bands on the WB.
How can they dispute a test where they actually find dna of the lyme bacteria? Politics I assume.
I live by myself and am so overwhelmed and despite reading every day since Nov 08 about this disease have so many questions.
Thank you

Hi Mark,
Even the CDC clearly states the LD is a CLINICAL diagnosis. Tests can be used to verify the diagnosis if needed. If your ND says you have Lyme. Then you have it. With the urine test, they have found actual Borrelia. That's about as exact as it can get!
Here it is right from the horse's mouth (CDC website):
"Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, objective physical findings (such as erythema migrans, facial palsy, or arthritis), and a history of possible exposure to infected ticks."
