Does anybody know about this? Are the toxins released through your urine or liver w/ MSM? & if risky would taking only 1000mg still be too much?

Does the mother have active Lyme?

If so, I would consider either not breastfeeding, or taking an antibiotic or two (you will have to read up on this because I'm not sure, but maybe Zithromax, Ceftin, or both together even are used in pregnant moms nowadays i believe), if she chooses to breastfeed at all.

(understand that breastfeeding when the mother has Lyme may transmit Lyme to the child).

Some moms/doctors seem to believe the benefits of breastfeeding for at least a few months, even when Lyme is a factor, outweigh the risks BUT that the mom should take antibiotics, but I think some doctors say you should not breastfeed. (can anyone confirm that some docs are still saying no breastfeeding for fear of transmission?)

I'm sure you will also find many mainstream doctors that say it's fine to breastfeed without taking precautions, but to my knowledge that is risky, if the Lyme is indeed active or untreated.

I would check Yahoo's PregLyme group. Though honestly, it is a pain to navigate.

I would not breastfeed while taking MSM, personally.
