What a ridiculous statement that he credits his recovery from "a vicious case of Lyme Disease" to "nutritional improvements". I wonder how much journalistic license has been mixed into this.
[Edit: after seeing that video clip of him that you posted lymeloco, it seems this is a case of misquoting or out-of-context journalism. Interesting guy.]
But anyway, good eating habits are very important of course, as is stopping smoking, alcohol, caffiene, and sugar. When you are down in a hole, no matter what illness, it is best to remove all toxins from your environment, as you are able.
They do give some good suggestions for eating healthy. Just wish they didn't mix it with absurd, mischaracterizing, and damaging off-the-cuff statements about lyme.
www.localharvest.org is one site they mention for finding good local providers of produce, meats, and dairy (CSAs, short for "community-supported agriculture")
www.eatwild.com is another great site for finding farms in your area that sell grass-fed and sometimes organic meats and dairy, and organic produce and honey, etc.
We have found that if you just let your fingers do a little walking, as the old yellow pages ad goes, you can find great prices (even better than grocery prices) on high-quality and organic food.
We were amazed to find a farm close to us that sold cuts of local grass-fed organic beef for far cheaper than the REGULAR beef at the local groceries. That was astounding.
