Has anyone taken this drug? Did it help you? With what symptoms? Did it help anziety issues at all?
My PCP said I'm depressed and don't have Lyme. I'm in no way stopping Lyme treatment, but a little part of me wonders how I may react to it?
Any thoughts are appreciated. Good and bad please.

I think most of us are depressed, how can we not be? We do have Lyme, too, but an antidepressant along with the mix can make things a lot more bearable.
I see it no differently as taking a pain med, why suffer with a symptom you can make better to help get through this journey?

Yeah Tracy. I'm nervous about them, but I will admit this disease has gotten to me day to day. It's a hard way to live and it's hard to remember the things I used to enjoy. Hope is a huge step towards recovery. I may try some 5-HTP and see if that makes any difference. I'm considering options more and more.
I despise what my PCP said and think he's off on his assessment, but...

I have had Lyme for at least 5 years and started treatment last June. I just began Wellbutrin XR a month ago as I noticed my depressive symtpoms and anxiety and anger getting worse throughout time. I used to have spells that went along with bad Lyme days - as the disease depressed my body my moods also followed - but I would bounce back on better days.
Over time, the spells became longer, thus, I started the Wellbutrin. It has made an AMAZING difference. Within 24 hours I could feel the edge coming off my anger and weepiness. Within a couple of days I felt very steady.
As for side effects, which concerned me a little upon starting, I only experienced some jittery feelings for about 4 hours the first day, and then they stopped. I have no other side effects at this point.
I will say that I am typically very sensitive to meds, so I am shocked to have no side effects. I did horribly when trying Cymbalta, but the Wellbutrin has been a true blessing, and I will stay on it as long as needed.
Hope this helps!

I wouldn't take anything like that without the blessing of an LL-
psychiatrist. There's some reason to suspect that they could
increase the chance of lesions developing in patients (like us) who
are already predisposed to developing white matter disease.

As Adamm says, one has to be sure in this regard before adding a med. I'd be afraid to miss what my body is trying to tell me by adding an anti-depressant.
For me at least, I'm frustrated that I can't partake in my usual social activities because of fatigue but I wouldn't classify that feeling as depression as I do other things such as work and exercise. I do what I have to.
My will is there but my body isn't.
If you believe in your diagnosis, stick to your main guns. Treat the infection and see if your body makes things right.
I'd feel more comfortable boosting sex hormones in attempt to boost mood than adding in anti-depressants.

I've been on Wellbutrin SR for eight years. I love it.
My daughter has been on Wellbutrin XL for two years. It works great for her.
Caution: The generic form of this drug is not as good as the brand. I have tried Bruprion by TEVA, and I was suicidal by the end of two weeks. My daughter tried it by WATSON, and she was dragging.
Our co-pays have just skyrocketed on this drug because the insurance says we should be using generic. So, I've been using the rest of her WATSON Buproprion and it's been working better than the Burprion made by TEVA.
We will just have to pay for my daughter to stay on Wellbutrin XL 300. It's worth it for her.
We've been on several different anti-depressants, and Wellbutrin had no side affects for us. Just a lifting of the black cloud.
