[Eek!] Anyone get sore spots on your head. It hurts to the touch, like you've banged your head but you really haven't.

I've got two spots on my head today that are very sore to touch. Is this a neuralgia?

Hi feelfit!

I heard someone (on this site, I think) recently say that some docs think the "sore spots" in fibromyalgia patients are areas where the patient is not getting enough oxygen, probably due to hypercoagulation.

So maybe that could apply to the brain/head too.

Are you taking heparin or any kind of enzymes (wobenzym, lumbrokinase, etc)? Those might help. I would love to get on some heparin!!!!

YES. I get these too!

It is generally in places where there are nerve bundles or vascular areas, if that makes any sense:

1. somewhat above the ears, or sometimes somewhat beind them.

2. at the back and base of my skull on both sides

3. and sometimes also on my temples.

It feels to me like inflammation, of the nerves and the veins. It will come on for days, weeks, or months at a time, and then disappear. I can actually feel swelling in those areas sometimes.

The pain and soreness is so bad when it happens that I yell out if I accidentally brush my hands ofver the area when washing my hair or trying to brush my hair. Just lightly touching with a fingertip feels awful, burning sharp unhealthy pain.

It tends to come on or worsen when I am herxing or flaring.

Hi Feelfit,

I get these on the top of my head. Feels kind of like I've pulled my hair up too tight, but I haven't.

They are sore to touch, kind of like they're bruised. I think I got bitten on the head (had a sore there at the time my illness came).

I have read a fair few posts of lymies with similar symtpoms. If you do a search you'll find them.

Mine are on top of my head too. Kind of bruised feeling. They don't hurt as badly as yours nenet, more like kellyb explains.

Hey Hoosiers! Yes I am taking an enzyme similair to Wobenzym but it is called Vascuzyme.

When I saw a neuro he pressed on the same spots that are now hurting...they didn't then, and suggested taking neurontin suggesting that it was a cranial nerve problem.

GLM I know, scabs on head and parasites right? Yucky.

I think it reflects how deeply embedded the infections are in the brain.

Hmmmm.

I have sore spots, most especially on the top and front of my head.

Almost feels like someone or something has been pulling

My hair tight right there for a long time.

A bruise or soreness feeling.

The brain is the only organ in the body

That doesn't have pain receptors.

That is why you can get a local to the scalp and be awake for brain surgery.

No feeling to the brain.

Lots of nerve endings around it though in the skull, skin, hair follicles, etc.

I think of mine as a type of neuralgia.

Hugs,

Geneal

Thanks Geneal,

Again, exactly the feeling. I think Neuralgia too. Also, when I would walk my dogs last winter and the cold would hit my head I would get a similair feeling.

Weird.

The whole back of my scull felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat - sore and tender to the touch. And in the little crevices of the skull.

Started Heparin and they went away.

Stomach too bruised to do Heparin shots anymore so few days ago switched to Warfarin...pain is coming back in certain crevices...

I'll have to find how to do nasal Heparin or something because I know for sure Heparin is what helped the most

It also helped my brain clearness

Yes, I've had this too and I actually posted here about it in the past.

It's awful. It only lasts a couple of days though and then goes away. Something to do with the nerves or inflammation in the head or something.

The cranial bones float around like continental plates on the Earth's mantle.

It's pretty common for the cranial bones to get jammed in certain places, and for the sutures to collide or overlap causing unbelievable tenderness on the scalp. This occurs in spots where we have an injury--even a seemingly minor head bump, an old childhood injury, or birth trauma. Muscle tension/tighness can also pull the bones out of place and jam them up.

Many craniosacral therapists can release the tension and allow the cranial bones to float freely again. It takes some special skills to do this, and some massage therapists or physical therapists specialize.

A cranial osteopath (DO) is another option.

Sometimes practioners who do Reiki, Body Talk, or other energy work can also help with this.

Hope this helps,
Nutmeg

Personally, I really believe it reflects inflammation from infection of those tissues by Lyme and/or Co's. I think the brain gets so filled up with the bugs that they start to come out through the scalp/skin resulting in tender spots and/or rashes/itchiness.

After battling these issues for a long time (mostly topicals in addition to my regular antibiotic regimen) I finally am free of these tender spots. It wasn't fun and it took a long time, but it worked for me.
