Hi,
I was on yesterday freaking out about taking the Flagyl! : )
I called my LLMD today and was told to switch to Tindamax. What should I expect? Since I had such profound tingling with Flagyl, I am worried. I hear that Tindamax is much easier to tolerate. Is it the same class as Flagyl? I am supposed to take it on weekends along with Ceftin. Taking all these drugs is causing me a lot of anxiety. I am getting bloodwork done in a week to check liver, etc.
Thanks for any thoughts!

I pulsed tindamax briefly and didn't notice any sides from it. I do think it's easier to tolerate than flagyl and somewhat safer as well.

Have you been on ceftin long?

Bailey,

Whey you say: "Taking all these drugs is causing me a lot of anxiety"

Do you mean that they increase your energy in a "wired" kind of way like too much coffee?

Or is it a "thinking" sort of anxiety and worry? If so, as long as you are following your doctor's instructions, following the self-care as Burranscano describes and taking liver and adrenal support supplements, you should fine.

While treatment is not easy, these are tough infections and it is vital to get good treatment.

If anxiety is increased in a "wired" sort of way, adrenal support should help with that.

When I say that taking all these drugs causes me anxiety - it means that I hate taking them all. I never even take Tylenol for a headache. I know it is necessary but it is scary too.
Should I cut the Tindamax in half the first time I take it?

I started tindamax on 3-20-09 at 1/2 dose just to make sure that I wasn't going to have a bad reaction to it.

I also cut down on tinctures that contain alcohol because they seemed to increase my pulse. Alcohol is contraindicated with tindamax. I went to full dose within 4 days and I'm back on tinctures.

Tindamax *seems* to be causing my neuropathy symptoms to come back but I can't be sure if it's the tindamax or lyme symptoms coming back. Mostly burning in my toes and fingers.

I'm also getting a stomach ache with tindamax. My sister ended up with elevated liver enzymes on it and had to go off. I just had my enzymes done last week and so far they are fine. Are you scheduled for a liver enzyme test sometime after you start tindamax?

I've developed overall inflammation in the past week which to me is a sign of die-off. I noticed an improvement in breathing right away so it seems to be hitting something.

I love Tindamax.... Much easier to take than the Flagyl. Also better than the Plaquenil I feel...

I take 500mg 2x a day.

Works great for me as a matter of fact I would recommend this Cyst Buster over any other....

Good Luck!!!

Tindamax is an anti-protozoal, anti-parasitic and treats some bacteria as well. It's hard to know what it's treating.

Well, I just picked up the pills. They are 500mg. I am going to start with half early tomorrow morning. I am worried. He only prescribed one 500mg pill a day on Sat and Sun only so we will see....

Response to Lymeorsomething... I have been on Ceftin since April 1st. I started back on Doxy March 10th. Going for Tindamax tomorrow. Why am I so scared?? I am cutting the 500mg tablet in half... should I quarter it the first dose? Ugh!
