Yup, yup. This weekend I got to find out first hand what abx and sunlight will do to a girl. I wasnt even out for a long time. I hosted a grillout Sat and Sun, I played in the orchard with the kids. They were hunting me with their new kid friendly paintball gun. Ha, thats a whole other story.

So, its just on my fingers and my face bad. I have splotches on my arms like a rash. I believe it was a reaction to the sun, duh. I really didnt worry alot because I am dark complected.

I was just sharing for those of you that have not experienced this in hopes you dont go through the pain I am. My hands are so hot that I cant even get in the water to shower without screaming. UGH!

Looks like I will be Mary Poppins all summer carrying my handy dandy umbrella wherever I go.

I hope you all are well [Smile]

Sorry this happened.

And OUCH is right!

Reminder to those who are on doxy-

Even after stopping it you need to be careful. The effects can last a while.

I had the same reaction to doxy.

It looked like a sun rash, and the rash almost felt prickly or electric. I know this sounds weird. Then when water touched it, it felt like a buring/tingling sensation.

I had the rash for 1 week and it wasn't getting better. I went to a dermatologist who gave me a topical ointment. (No steroids) This helped clear it up in about another week.

The dermatologist nearly fell out of her seat when I told her that I was on 400 of Doxy and that was why I had the rash. She was cool, and told me 2 of her other patients were being treated for Lyme, but with a NP doctor.

Whatever you don't don't get anymore sun exposure on the parts that have a rash, this just makes it worse - trust me [Smile] I learned the hard way.

When on Doxy, I wore gloves while driving.

Asummers,

Wow, you did go down the same road!! Before I got really really red, my hands would tingle like it was raining on them. Then it got worse over the next two days.

I can feel the sun beating on them when I drive and especially when I have my sun roof down. Gloves are a great idea. Its just really bad on my hands and my nose. I am Jaimie the red nosed lyme patient. LMAO

I had to wear gloves to drive I was so sensitive to the sun on doxy. My LLMD switched me off it when spring came around ... I was getting blisters through the car windows, with sunscreen on!

Good news is that the half life of doxy is about 24-36 hours.

I could stop it and be in the sun two days later without issues.

However, I couldn't even stand the heat when on doxy.

My LLMD does not do doxy over the summer here.

Hugs,

Geneal

I wonder if my doctor will let us discontinue the doxy during the summer. I have had the same reaction, and I got it while driving!!

Felt to me like pins and needles and then the water or a breeze blowing would burn the heck out of it!!!

Jez, I can't live in Florida and NOT get sun. It is NOT possible!!!

My son used Durascreen while he was on Doxy. He could be in the sun with it on.
