Recently diagnosed with chronic lyme, this weekend for some unknown reason had a big herx reaction and i was bed-bound for 2 days?

Before having positive test results for lyme, i tried Samento - TOA free cats claw, which afyer 12 days on (increasing by 1 drop a day) i had a herx.
What i experienced over the last 2 days was the same as the Samento herx.

But i havent even started abx yet!?
How could i have a herx when i was not taking anything to cause this "flare up of symptoms" ??

By the way i wasnt ill or caught any virus, just randomly and suddenly got a huge increase in my symptoms?

Could it have been a flare connected to the full moon on Thursday night?

Lymies also often have undiagnosed or reactivated viral issues. Perhaps it was a viral issue 'acting up'.

Adam,
Sorry you are feeling so ill.

Most lyme patients have flares which can sometimes feel as bad as a herx. It is the nature of lyme disease. Supposedly there is a 28 day cycle to these symptoms but I could never tie it to anything so precise.

adamtt,

One can herx on Samento. I did. My LLMD told me to expect it.

If you were not taking antibiotics or any other supplement (herbal or otherwise) to kill off spirochetes - then it wasn't a herx.

A jarrisch-herxheimer reaction is by definition a result of killing the organisms.

It sounds like you had a flare up of symptoms.

Some of the many reasons you could have had a flare: the life cycle of the organisms; stress (weakens your immune system); overdoing it; a virus... there are many reasons you could have had a flare.

I hope you feel better, and that you get into treatment soon.
