Here is an overview of what Hyperbaric Oxygen
does(below). I literally felt my
body 'turn on'. I kept thinking I had a fever,
but realized that I hadn't felt what it was like
to feel 'normal' and warm in years
* LYME IS DOES NOT LIKE Oxygen! Fights infection by creating a hostile environment for bacteria which thrive and cause infection in the absence of oxygen.
* Immediate support by forcing oxygen into oxygen starved tissue
* Reduction of inflammation and edema (tissue swelling)!!
* Production and mobilization of stem cells to repair organs and tissues! YAY!
* Improved white blood cell function
* Increased growth of new blood vessels and capillaries (my purple and white hands and feet turned pink!)

Cool! Thanks for posting here about this. Sounds like you know first hand how awesome HBOT is for Lyme. I did 200 treatments myself and it made a huge impact on my health, all for the best! What are the rates per treatment and what type of chambers are there? Are they all monoplace chambers? Says on the website that you only treat once per day, is that accurate for Lyme patients? Thanks for posting! Great to see more HBOT centers treating Lyme disease!!! Thank you!!

What if you can't do antibiotics with it, would it be worth the cost??
I have a local center and called and talked to them. I have liver enzyme elevation issues and they said that HBOT is great for the liver too.
I will probably call my LLMD and ask what he thinks. It is just a lot of money, even just 10 days to start out with. Is there a minimum number of treatments that you need to really help?

Any experience with this helping to rid a constant frontal headache? Fatigue? Body aches?
Are there any risks in doing this with a child?
Getting oxygen deep into the cells and all sounds great, but any potential bad side effects that you might know about?
I would like to try this with my daughter but am hesitant.
I've heard that doing oxygen therapy--walking on a treadmill while inhaling pure oxygen--is great too, and this just seems safer to me somehow, so I'm trying to find some place locally that will do that for us. Any knowledge or pros/cons regarding this?
Also, how long do the benefits last after each treatment?

while hbot did not help me because i failed to address mercury toxicity before diving, it is a great way to stimulate immune response.

The cost of this just seems to make it nearly impossible for those whose insurance wouldn't cover it.
And it's hard to imagine any insurer not saying it was experimental.
I'm not trying to be negative, but it's frustrating that something could help and be basically out of reach.

It can be up to 400 dollars a dive depending on where you are from.
As with any therapy that you choose you have to weigh risks vs benefit.
There was just a hyperbaric acident in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. that was reported in the news over the weekend. A grandmother was in a hyperbaric chamber with her grandchild and the chamber was ignited by a spark and blew up. Gramdma burned to death. Baby in critical condition.
This is the first major accident in the US ever...so even though chances are slim, it is something to consider.

For those that cannot afford long-term use of HBOT, I would advise you to check out the ozone, HBOT and singlet oxygen thread. I will be starting ozone myself soon, and from what I've gathered it offers the same benefits as HBOT and potentially more for far cheaper and can be easily set up in the home.

I don't believe I ever said that 200 visits was the minimum for HBOT. I said that's how many treatments I had done. (minimum is more like 40 treatments)
Usually patients start out with 30-60 treatments in a row, then a 4-6 week break, followed by 10 treatments every 6-8 weeks after that. The trick is to keep it going, not do 30 treatments, and then stop cold. Keep it going!
Also, make sure you are on the most aggressive antibiotic combinations possible when you do your HBOT, it will make it work better. Infuse IV's etc, take pills before the dive by about 1-2 hours to make them maximum blood concentrations. I also had babesia the entire time and HBOT helped that tremendously. Many of the horrible symptoms I had NEVER came back after doing HBOT. It should be between $75 and $150 per dive. Anything more than that and you are being ripped off. The place with the fire obviously had no protection for static and that is extraordinarily rare.
Multiplace (multi-person, and mild chambers do not work well for Lyme disease, you need monoplace (single person) at 2.4 ATA in order to treat it the best way. Multiplace chambers you breathe the oxygen through a mask, and the oxygen does not penetrate through your skin where the spirochetes like to hide, so you are not getting the full benefit. The mask also leaks and can be very claustrophobic. Mild chambers only go to about 15 feet and do not work for Lyme disease, period. Spend your money in the right place, do the treatment the right way, and accept no cheap imitations. Good luck!

Sorry I am just responding. I thought that I
would get the responses sent to my regular
e-mail, but realized that was just for personal
messages to me.
Michael- YES, it is VERY very very frustrating
that it is so expensive and is not covered by
insurance. Mepron, IV Rochepin past 1 month, and
any Brand-name drug I am prescribed is NOT covered
by my insurance either. My husband and I are in
major debt, and I am grateful to have a family
that has been able to give us some money to get
by.
I waited too long after my first 40 treatments
hyperbarics to do another 40 and regressed. I
started back taking the antibiotics, staying on
the strict lyme diet, doing far-infrared, colon
hydrotherapy and any other alternative therapy I
could get my hands on... but nothing makes me feel
as good as when I am doing the hyperbaric
treatments.
Don't get me wrong, I herx a lot (lots of burning
in my muscles, joints, etc. and fatigue... but I
feel my body repairing itself: my brain, my
joints, my muscles, my SKIN , and my blood
vessels (I have a little healthy pink to my skin
now- imagine that!)
Also... Michael,
Dr. H is in favor of the treatment if you can
follow through with it and do the IV antibiotics
in conjuction and while treating the co-infections
I am lucky in that I am now working at a
hyperbaric cinic, so I can 'afford' the tx's
as an employee. I am very lucky.
One of our big goals is to apply for grants and
do good clinical research with lyme and Hyperbaric
Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) so we can get insurance
to start covering. I'll be sure to let you all
know when we do a pilot study. I'm making it my
goal once I have a little more energy and am done
with my own treatment

Add pycnogenol 1mg per pound of body weight per day - all at once.
In other words, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would take 150mg.
That advice comes from an infectious disease doctor in Sarasota, so I am confortable mentioning it here.
He believes Pycnogenol + HBO can indeed cure lyme. Just that combination...no need for abx.
It maybe another way. Expensive, but...
