i've got yeast. my tongue is all white and stays pretty much that way. in the morning i can literally pull this stringy stuff off my tongue and when it gets on my toothbrush, it's hard to get off.

he recommended gargling with this stuff, swishing it around and swallowing a couple of times a day.

i'm taking probiotics and all, so hoping this will help.

did it help you? can you herx on nystatin? i assume you can since it's killing yeast.

I am taking nystatin (tablets, the liquid did not do any thing for me) and it seems to be working for me. I had a terrible time with yeast but now i think i finally have it under control.

I used to take diflucan but it did not seem to work as well for me.

My dr had me up my acidophilus and put me on a strong dose of nystatin.
At first he had me take 2 tabs 4x a day for 7 days, then 4 tabs 4 x a day (16 a day) for another 7 days and now i am taking 4 tabs a day and will continue as long as i am on antibiotics.

This helped me.

p.s. also a tongue scraper can help. I know that sounds gross but it does help.

I like the liquid and not the pills.

I don't use a tongue scraper cause they are VERY sharp and hurt.

Nystatin works for me.

Yes.. a lot of yeast die-off can cause you to feel bad... or kinda drunk.

I thought the nystatin swish had sugar in it.

I take diflucan and nystatin on my days off diflucan.

When I had really bad yeast on my tongue, I followed

Dr. B's guidelines for the bleach/water mix to remove it.

Don't swallow the bleach solution!

Throw away your toothbrush and get a new one.

I replace mine weekly.

Or you can soak it in peroxide, but too much for me to do.

After the bleach/water cleanse, I opened a Theralax and put in on my tongue.

I did this along with diflucan, but it really helped.

Problem is like Ipkayak said, nystatin works in the lower GI.

Diflucan works on the whole system.

Maybe a week of diflucan to get the yeastie beasties

Under control and then do the nystatin.

Just a thought.

Hugs,

Geneal

Yep. My LLMD has had me on it the whole time I've been in treatment (well actually Diflucan the first few months I think).

I mix grapefruit seed extract drops in water and swish/gargle with it. I also soak my toothbrush in the solution.

I can't take Nystatin and I take Diflucan about 3/week.
