who do I contact about setting up a SPECT scan at Columbia when it's not being ordered through their Lyme clinic?
I googled their nuclear medicine dept and couldn't find a phone #.
All I have is a script from my dr...they're not actually setting it up for me and I NEED to make sure it's done at the right place, read by the best LL radiologist.
any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!!

This is the phone number hubby called to schedule his SPECT at Columbia in June, 2007.
Ph: 212-543-6510
This is the number for the Lyme research studies, but they can transfer you to the nuclear medicine department.
If your insurance requires preapproval of the test that must be done before you can schedule the test. Your doc who wrote the scrip would be the one who would need to get the insurance preapproval. Once the insurance is squared away the test can probably be scheduled within 1 or 2 weeks.
Good luck and be sure and let us know what your test results are.
You can get a color copy of your scan the same day -- the report will come later. It cost maybe $50 but was worth it to us. Just ask when you have the test done.

Hi Bea, thanks for all the info! We actually called that # though and have left 2 messages in the past couple weeks with no return call. I'll try again tomorrow.
we're still working on the insurance part. worst case scenario..does anyone know what it costs out of pocket?

Hubby called around and did find another phone number for you. This one also has a machine but hopefully they will call you back.
Think this is the number for the PET department which should be able to help.
212-305-4319
Hubby looked up his old EOB from 2007 -- test was surprisingly cheap compared to MRI's etc.
$1229 for SPECT plus $225 for radiologist
This was the actual charge before any insurance adjustments.
