I just came back from the doc. and she says my day sweats are from the Lyme now. Originally she told me (months ago) that it was the Babesia causing it but my babs test just came out negative and I'm stopping Mepron...(finally). Can lyme really be causing this horrible sweating?? Also, I still have Erlichia which is twice as high from six months ago any good meds for killing that cause apparently what were doing is not making a dent in it!

I'm currently taking Biaxin and Bicillin LA shots. Doc wants to give me an IV in a few weeks...not sure what I'll be taking then. I just thought it would be good to go into my appointment with a little more information cause I'm really not clear what to do or what she is doing.

A strong dose of Tetracycline, 2g per day (I know, it's overkill, 1,500mg would probably work fine) would probably eradicate Ehrlichia. It would also be a good option to try on the Lyme Disease in combination with the other treatment you're already on. Add plaquenil to the Biaxen -- if tolerable, 200mg per day, then increase to 400mg (assuming you weigh more than 120lbs) Give it a good 6 months. It's just one idea of many.

Yes Lyme can cause profuse sweating as well. It is difficult to know which is which, but generally a physician will presume multiple infections when the patient doesn't respond to an initial course of two or three treatments aimed at Lyme Disease.

It's a lot of guesswork/clinical hypothesis when testing is negative, especially without the physician having direct access to compete pathologist technicians to perform the culturing.

Ehrlichia ...NO not in my case

My load was very high and I have been on mino and rifampin for 16 months non stop ..and ehrlichia and bart was constant in my case

Read Scott `s story ..his load was hig too

It depends since when you have had...it..I still feel I have a very low load yet ...EHRLCHIA can become cronic as well

One of my friends was on IV for EHRLCHIA and LYME for 6 months on DOXY ..after 2 years still has erhrlichia ...so be careful...

if it is an acute is totaly diferent but not when you have it for long time.....can become cronic as well....tetra family and rifampin works on it..make sure you are on one of those at least...

I can't knock out the Ehrlichia either. I've been on Doxy and Rifampin for many, many months at a time (a couple of years, really) and while the Anasplasma turned negative, the Ehrlichia titers are as strong as ever. I am very discouraged and don't know what to do about it.

I think many Lyme doctors assume that Doxy will knock out Ehrlichia as it is working on the Lyme - two diseases at once - but that has not worked in my case. I was bitten in California but never heard of a particularly virulent strain of Ehrlichia here.
