I am just starting treatment. I have been on Biaxin a few days and now trying Ceftin. My skin is itching all over. Is this die off or an allergic reaction?

I want to keep doing the treatment but it is drving me crazy and I'm pretty worried, too.

V, The itching all over would bother me, just because of allergic reactions. Are you getting any hives?

Some people tolerate Biaxin very well others have a horrrible time with it. I was the latter.

You can always call your Dr if in doubt. Take care.

I'm just on Ceftin now and no hives. I'm taking a very low dose to ramp up I guess but going nuts already. Called the Dr. but didn't get much except it could be a typical die off.

I itch very badly off and on and moderately all the time since I started treatment. I've asked the same question here as you. Mine is not allergic reaction according to my doc but the effect of my body trying to get rid of toxins released when the pathogen dies.

Nothing really helps for me, hot baths, scrubbing the skin. You will know for sure if it from die off if it itches in the places where it hurts.

The burning usually precedes the itching. For me its goes extreme pain, then burning then itching in and around joints. Sometimes all three at the same time. Been this way since starting abx in Jan. No relief yet.
