I just got back from the hair dresser and I was talking about having Lyme with her and the hair dresser next to us over heard me talking. She told me that she has a client that has Lyme disease too who is going over seas to get stem cells implanted. I was like "WHAT!" thats crazy. I cant imagine how stem cells can do anything to parasites! Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this?

I had no idea people were doing this. I've been way to sick to even do a little research on all these things. I'm just starting to get a tiny bit better so i feel like i can do more research what other people are doing.

I can't understand how stem cells could help lyme. Unless you TOTALLY eradicated the infection first and then had the stem cells there to help repair damage.

The Stem cells may be used to replace damaged tissues. The research that I'm aware of is taking place in India.

If we view immune system and infection are two poles of the same system, stem cell therepy will make sense.
But I do not know enough about the current treatment option for lyme.

Stem cell research has moved well beyond the embryonic stage. Having that restriction forced scientists to become very resourceful.
Stem cell research has never stopped in the USA, it has only stopped regarding embryonic...until now.

There is a doctor in Bonita Springs, Florida who has been doing adult (your own) stem cells for a several years now. He is a cardiologist. Most proceedures are on heart, lungs and a few other things.
I personally know one older gent who had his own stem cells planted in his heart by this doctor. He went from walking a few steps to a normal 80 year old's life with a good ticker. He went from non-functioning to a funtioning person.
I did go to a seminar this winter for this doctor's proceedures. It was very interesting.
A few things he said at the seminar......He did say it would not help auto immune disease also it has been proven that embryonic stem cells cause cancer.
I didn't ask any questions concerning TBD. Bascially I was absorbing the info given.
He did say that there is a lot of adult stem cell research going on all over the world and even in the USA, including, diabetes, macular degeneration, just can't remember all but he had about 5 or 6 hospitals and universities, in the USA, doing studies and what specific health problems the studies dealt with.
His proceedures.... after testing is completed to see if the person is a candidate for this, blood is taken from patient and then sent to a lab and prepared for whatever proceedure you are having. A minimum 2 million stem cells are need. The actual proceedure of inserting the stem cells is done outside the USA.
That's about all I remember that may be of interest and that they only do 3 patients a week.
Oh, 5 of his patients who were at the seminar all said they felt " different " immediately after their proceedure.
The doctor said as a side effect, it helped several male patients in the " bedroom " area and if I can remember correctly, duh ! noticed hair growth in bald men.
Take it for what it is worth but I did see photos of the before and meeting the people, I was impressed in the difference. Also, I know the one gent.
One set of before/after photos was of a diabetic with a bad wound on toe/foot. He showed photos in 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 month and by the 3rd month there wasn't a wound anymore. It was completely healed. The photos could be photo shopped but like I said, I do know the one guy who had the heart done, Big Big difference in him.
It looks like adult stem cells can help a lot of people. But, the usual game, insurance doesn't cover, only some testing. Quite pricy also.
One thing he did mention and I didn't prove or dis-prove it......he said that in Germany adult stem cells are being used on heart patients first before any open heart surgery is performed. It is cheaper. Well, obviously it is less invasive also.
