I am going to start Roxithromycin soon...does anyone know the dosage? Is it 300mg or 600mg per day? Thanks.

I started at 150mg twice a day but then felt I was regressing so then increased it to 300mg twice a day and started making headway. I'm still on 600mg/day. It's helped a lot, but sometimes I think about trying 900mg/day. I found one old post from someone who took that and I think they said it helped.

You need to be sure to check your labs regularly, you know. It can cause diabetes in about 7 to 9% (? I think) of patients studied.

well, I thought I read that that was the main reason it was taken off the market in the US, but now I can't seem to find it, so maybe I was mistaken.

*I* heard it was taken off the market as other "superior" macrolides were [at the time] available here in the U.S. Personally I think it was a $$ thing. Biaxin-maker Abbott Labs wanted the U.S. market for itself. (Roxythromycin was introduced by a German pharma company in 1987.)

Starting out at 150mg twice a day & progressing to 300mg twice a day IS the typical dosage as I recall from a Lymenet contact in the SouthWest, who had been on it for some time (& made good progress!)

bears- Read this Austrian study from 1995:

Seems adding co-trimoxazole helps a lot. [Wink]
