I took my second minocyclin pill (100mg) today and my heart started racing like crazy about 2 hours later, plus arrhythmia, plus shortness of breath... which turned into a panic attack.

I took my first minocyclin pill last night without any problem.

Does it sound like an instant herx or an adverse reaction to the abx?

I feel like such a fool for having called the paramedics for this. [Frown]

Call your pharmacist to see, or call your doctor.

My daughter had a quick herx with minocycline.

I had to split the powder into empty gelcaps (bought at health store), so she was getting 50mg instead of 100mg.

She then only took one two times a week. She did this for a month, then worked up to four days a week.

It wasn't until she could tolerate every day at 50mg, that she bumped up to 100mg a couple of times a week, then 50mg the other days.

She has been on 200mg a day for over a year now.

It gave her the biggest boost in her treatment. If you can tolerate it and work up, it could be a good drug for you

I've never had herx come on within hours of abx, instead the next day is usually when I feel it. You might see about scaling back the dose. I herxed plenty on 25 mg mino every other day when I intially began.

I took doxy for many months (400mg/day) with other abx with no problem whatsoever.

Is minocyclin more powerful than doxy?

I should be adding tinidazole soon, but now I'm scared!

This has happened to me and it was a herx. I actually did better when I INCREASED the dose to 200mg daily all at once.
