I was 18 and already had FM when 1st bitten, floored me for 18 months. A once in a lifetime opportunity prompted me to start training vigorously. 6 months later I'd raised my weight by 60 lbs and was at 3% body fat. I had tough times every three months with the infections, but handled it well and stayed in excellent shape.

A few years later when my exercise started slowing down the infections became more severe and frequent. Finally at 31 yrs., I wound up near dead from pneumonia and have since been ill like when I was 18, all over again.

I entertained the idea of pushing through my miseries right before starting treatment and did so pretty well, but got nailed by drug interactions and haven't picked it up since.

Now that I'm in this wonderful group I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone has been able to do the same and how it worked out because I'd like to try it again.

Thanks,
Jason R

Hay there Tampa...

How was that heat today? A bit warm... caught ME by surprise... but nice.

Welcome to LymeNet!

There are many folks here and their conditions are close... but usually not exactly the same. Many were very "fit" prior to Lyme. Some are exercising and some are not able at the moment.

May I suggest reading what Dr. Burrascano has to say about exercise? Since he is a stickler for fitness... but doesn't like anyone to overdo or relapse or get hurt...

That would be a good place to start.

You can find his comments in his guidelines.

I believe the newer version is on Scott's website... Better Health guy.... but till someone else chimes in...

Look to the left of the screen and see the "On-line Library".

You may find a copy there.

Again, welcome to LymeNet.

Tincup, I'm missing a golf scramble today! Wish I could have afforded it. Thanks for the welcome,
and feels like it's gonna warm up a bit today too, at least S.O.G., a few miles away from MAFB where I got my first tick. But there's no Lyme in FL so I'm just a head case!

I've read through Burrascanno's guide from Oct '08 quite a few times. I suppose the trick for me would be to learn how to support T cell function so that I could exercise more regularly than every other day.

When I broke through with only exercise before, I was training 6 days a week. Maybe that's why I continued to have infections.

You got me thinking though, about how to support T cell function and what their immediate reduction can do and how to reduce the consequences. Maybe I'll go see an ID again if I can't figure it out soon.

Thanks!

jrutty, sorry to hear your having a tough go of it.. and glad you found this group..
read my reply to the post:

"Lyme disease in Florida? One mom's warning"

I say you are not alone since many people relocate from the northern states to SUNNY SOUTH FLORIDA for a reason.. (and of course they vacation down there too...)

AS did my family and now found our way back to the northeastern states to stay where we feel we can deal with it better..

Florida would have been nice since Lyme hate the heat, I do know that, but I hate FLorida bureaucracy, so I win and moved back to my home lands

bottom line is" "Have ticks, will travel".. LOL
