The thing with doxy is that you need to sit up for at least 1/2 hour after you take it.
You can burn the heck out of your esophagus or have nasty throat things if you lay down right away.

Hi CheriAnn,
Oh I'm sorry this happened to you! Yes, you are supposed to take Doxy with a full glass of water (I drink several glasses to be on the safe side). My SIL took Doxy last year, with no water, just swallowed it and went to bed. She ended up with an ulcer in her esophagus.
There was nothing they could do, it was just hard to eat for awhile. However, if you aren't having any pain, then that is probably a good sign.
See your doctor if you are concerned and if it still feels funny.

Well, I was able to go to bed and get some sleep but it still feels uncomfortable. The pain is much less. I have always taken it while up and mobile with lots of water.
Just had forgotten to take it earlier as I was out and was tired.
Bummer. Praying that I did not blow something major...

So Ocean, She did heal? Just took time? How long? I just was/am afraid I would have to go off Doxy...
Don't want to go backwards.

Hi Cheri,
Yes, she healed, it did take several weeks, she drank a lot of juice as she couldn't swallow food really that well. She went to her doctor and he told her she would just have to let time heal it.
You might want to see your doctor though to see what s/he says, maybe there is something that can be done to help.

Ugh, I have had the pill disolve in my throat, yuck!
And, I have belched it back up. Our doctor specifically told us to sit up for an hour and take it with lots of water.
He had a military friend die because it literally burned his esophogas out.
I just keep dowing the water if I have that feeling. Hopefully, it isn't something bad, but if it keeps on after a couple of hours, I would go to the doctor.
