I have been fine on Ceftin so far but tonight it has left a yucky taste in my mouth. What gives? I read that it can be a side effect. Plus, my mouth feels dry. What can I do? Will anything help? Chewing gum is not helping... Ick! I have been on it 26 days now. I just got the Rx filled at a different pharmacy so the manufacturer is different. Thanks in advance for any advice. : )

I had this same problem. I talked to two different pharmacists at two different pharmacies, and they said it wouldn't really matter if I tried different generics or the brand. They said Ceftin has a strong odor and taste.
However, one of my Lyme friends didn't have a problem and hers was the same generic as mine, so I don't know if it was the batch, or just that my tastebuds are more sensitive than hers.
The bad taste went away for me after a month or so.
The pharmacists just told me to use breath mints but I just toughed it out.

My generic ceftin tasted bad and dissolved in my mouth and encouraged oral yeast. So, following the advice of others on this forum, I coated the pill in oil before taking it. This helped a lot!
