Hi - Just a quick Question... Ive had Lyme now for 12 years.... just found a tick on my 7 year old! I just pulled it off of her and it was a tiny bit hard to do, but I got him off. It looks like a big tick (not the small one)... should I get her checked?!? Im kind of freaking out right now... [Smile]

can you send the tick into your county lab for analysis and get a doctor to rx doxycycline?

Doxy isn't for children due to the black teeth issue.

I would get an antibiotic on board asap though.

Call your LLMD and see what they recommend.

Hugs,

I would begin treatment no matter what. [no doxy] but don't rely on tick testing.

She needs to be on treatment for Lyme immediately, and seen by a tick-borne disease specialist to evaluate for co-infections to determine whether she should be treated for them right away as well. Watch for RMSF symtptoms - it can be very dangerous, and can be acquired just from touching an infeced tick.

Really the thing I would do is get her ILADS-level antibios from any doc you can while you make an appointment to get her in to see an LLMD for the rest.
