URGENT (well, not really) QUESTION!

I got overly confident with my Ceftin pill and accidentally got a big tongue-full of it!

What is the quickest way to get that horrible taste out of my mouth???

I need a Macguyver style solution immediately. I feel like I had the ick of 50 unripe bananas compressed into a split second of tongue contact. I can get paper clips and gum wrappers with ease if need be...

A spoonful of honey instantly takes away the sting of spicy foods, so maybe it would also take away ceftin's taste? I don't take ceftin, so I'm just speculating. Easy enough to try.

Nothing helped me while I was on Ceftin although the bad taste seemed to finally go away after a month or so - or maybe I just got used to it!

I am on 2,000mg of ceftin a day and it is really hard when trying to swallow them down with that aweful taste. I try to get them down as fast as I can and then drink a tall glass of water afterwords.

dip the ceftin in some oil, or buy one of those spray cans of oil and coat the pill with it.

It goes down really easy, and you won't have to taste it.

I down my generic Ceftin (which is much fouler-tasting than brand-name, I have read) with a gulp of Vanilla Almond Milk. It has just enough fat in it to coat the pill and hide the taste entirely.

I have found that water makes the taste spread very rapidly, so I try to avoid drinking it during or right after taking the pill. Almond Milk does wonders, so I just take it when I am eating a meal and drinking AM. Then I drink some water, once the "threat" is over.

It's working for me. I am 8 months into Ceftin on small, but still increasing, doses.

I still have a long way to go, and I am still ramping up to full dose, but I have made marked progress. I keep herxing with each increase in does (herxing isn't necessary for it to prove it is working, but it helps me know I haven't developed resistance yet).

But everyone is different - I have had symptomatic Lyme and co. for maybe as much as 35 years.

I love my Ceftin - I look forward to taking it each day, which I find to be a bit odd, but hey, Lyme can do strange things. [Smile]
