am sure that some of you see Endo's with all the hormone stuff............have some of you had problems taking pharmaceuticals for them. I am going to insist on having some pituitary stuff checked next week because all of my adrenal hormones and thyroid are out of whack.
I am wondering if I should go see an endo after I get the results, or try to go about it with a homeopathic route. I have tried traditional pharmaceuticals, but the reactions that I have had to them scare me.
I would almost say I feel better not taking anything because when I have taken things in the past, they make me feel worse.

My daughter had to stop Levothyroxine 25MCG, for borderline underactive thyroid.
Only on for 5 days, but seemed to increase her lightheadedness.
Not sure if Lyme related or side effect of med.

I've never had good results with endo's. They are usually limited and very mainstream. If you can find one who is cutting edge and thinks out side the box that would be great.
I've always had much better success with integrative M.D.'s or ACAM doctors who treat the whole body and deal with adrenal, thyroid, hormonal issues or whatever needs to be addressed.

I have an Endo and it has helped. My TSH has been .03 to 115. I'm sure it's Lyme related but I still need to treat it.
I've been doing much better with a more stable TSH since I started Synthroid, and started seeing a Endo.

I did have to start with a really small dose of Synthroid and VERY slowly work up. I have to do that with everything I take.

An Endo CAN help during your Lyme treatment, I am not sure why you think they cannot.
Sometimes you need a small boost to help out the Thyroid and/or Adrenals from the strain Lyme has placed on them.
Sometimes even with proper Lyme treatment, you still need the help.
Not ALL things caused by Lyme are cured/gone once Lyme treatment has been completed.

I agree. It doesn't matter why your thyroid or adrenals are not working properly they still need support.
I know few people who have gotten better from lyme and have had their thyroid problems reversed.
I happen to think integrative or ACAM doctor's handle this stuff better but either way it needs to be addressed or it create bigger problems and will hinder your progress with lyme.

I was seeing an endo back before I had a Lyme diagnosis, but even though I've had thyroid and adrenal issues, I have not seen one since my diagnosis.
With that said, I would not hesitate to see one if you felt that your Lyme Doctor didn't have these under control.
I know that some seem to focus on these things more than others.
Sadly, Lyme messes up so many things in our bodies and seeing a specialist can be helpful as long as they aren't going to try to tell you that it isn't really lyme and talk you into stopping treatment.
Good luck.

Thanks again...........so for those of you addressing adrenal issues........how many are doing homeopathic treatments vs. the standards (Cortef, Florinef)? These are two in particular that I am having trouble with.
It has been suggested(?) that maybe I should back off thyroid treatment to start the treatment for the adrenals.........but I am not convinced about this.

I have never heard of backing off thyroid treatment to treat adrenals. If they both need treatment you
treat them both and they are closely tied together. They both require tyrosine and if one is not functioning properly it takes the tyrosine from the
other organ to function. Adrenals start to fail when they are stressed for any number of reasons, lyme, thyroid dysfunction, etc. DHEA need to be tested to maintain the adrenals and all of your hormones must be in balance.
I have never taken medications for my adrenals. I have always used supplements under the care of an integrative physician.

Many Dr.'s do say you need to address the Adrenals before any Thyroid type of meds. There is a wonderful Thyroid forum that has alot of valuable info. If you would like the link, please PM me.
My Dr. also agrees Adrenals first, then Thyroid. He feels treating both or Thyroid first will cause Thyroid pooling and do more damage than good.
