Hello,
I have been reading past posts, regarding Bartonella.
My daughter tested IGG post. for Bartonella Henselae and Quintana last fall. No specialty labs. Her titer was 1:26 ,with their normal being under 1:12.
She never tested Positive for bart. from two diff specialty labs before this. She was treated for lyme last summer for 8 wks.
We see a new Lyme Pediatric Dr. ,this week. We are told he is the best.
One symptom that never really improved was the constant urine frequency. The urgency seems
improved , but the frequency is still here. Several bladder tests all come back normal. I have read that urine Freq, is common in
Bartonella.
I noticed TickBattler mentioned her husband was treat for bart. and had urinary isssues, just wondering if anyone else with Bart. have urinary issues?
I know her new Lyme specialist should be able to sort this all out for us, but I worry in the back of my mind that maybe the urine frequency is from something else.
She is left with some symptoms. Even though the regular doctors tell me nothing is wrong!!!

It could be interstitial cystitis. A few with lyme have this. Have you looked into this? Has she been to a urologist?

Read about D-mannose. It helps especially with e - coli, also cinnamon should be good for e-coli infections ( I never tried). Dr. S writes in his book about bladder and bartonella. Also buy your own urine test strips, so you can alsways test and let you give a paper for the lab in advance. When she has problems do the test and bring the urine to the lab immediately for the culture. Then you can start with if necessary antibiotics. I would not recommend cath. for the child,urine is anyhow sterile. Work on the ph and test it several times a day, it has to be at least 7.0. High ph water filter could cure the disease.
You have to learn to manage this, otherwise you have lifelong trouble. Homeopathic cantharis C 30 works very well. If you need more help, pm me.

Anyone else have bartonella and urine frequency?
Every month it gets more frequent for about a week and then goes back to usual frequency.
Also she has purplish looking stretch marks on the back of her knees. They are vertical and about 1-2 inches tall.

I think it can also be caused by pituitary damage that reduces the production of anti-diuretic hormone.
Mine has improved because I don't drink as much. But, I don't drink as much because I'm not excessively thirsty like I used to be. That happened after 10 months taking omnicef andzith (which helps with bart).
So, I don;t know the direct answer to yoru question, but, this is my experience.

Hi Jane,
I hope your appt goes well. Are you seeing Dr. J in CT? That's who my kids see.
I'm surprised you're not getting more responses on this one. I thought urinary frequency is a common tick-borne disease symptom.
My kids have not had the frequency issue but one of my 5 year old boys started wetting his bed at one point when his symptoms were getting worse. Not sure which disease this was related to, but it went away after taking bactrim, zith and Mepron.
Later, he started having pain in his penis upon urinating and even afterwards. After 2 days of this, rifampin was added to his protocol instead of bactrim, and this symptom completely disappeared. So I suspect this was bart related.
When I was researching this issue, I just remember hearing from people that bart loves the bladder. That would be my hunch about your daughter, but it will be interesting to see what your LLMD says.

Urinary frequency and incontinence was my daughter's very first sign of problems at age 4.
At age 14 she still struggles with it. As we have begun to treat my bartonella, it has become a problem for me as well.
I also have urinary hestitancy - wake up in the middle of night and have to pee, but can't. I assume it's the Bart too.

YES, YES, YES Jane.
My daughter first biggest complaint was Bladder.
She had Lyme and Bart. If you remember they biobsied Bart from her stomach.
It was great frequency and urgency.
Definitely a Bart symptom...tell Doc J.

2roads, yes I remember reading about the biopsy. I didn't know about the urine issues. Thanks so much. I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is coming for all of us!!
