i haven't been here-- or anywhere else-- much for months, but wanted to share this news.
My son was infected with Lyme and babesia at 5 months in utero. He will be 7 years old in a few months, and for the very first time in his life, he is well.
He went off abx 2 months ago, and and after 2 months of watching for any symptoms to reappear, none have and our son is thriving in every way.
The one person who made my son's recovery possible is Dr. J., and we will be always be in in his debt for giving our son a chance at life.
For years too, though, I've relied upon the support and advice of folks here to help me keep the faith.

I'm so happy for you and your son! I can imagine the anguish you must have gone through knowing your son was sick. I just gave birth four months ago and I worry every day if he is well or not.
You have given me some hope that if he is sick, he can get well. Thank you for that.
Will you share a little of your story? How and when did you first discover he was ill?
How did you come to the conclusion he had babesia?
What were some of the treatments he was on?

Blinkie- you are way ahead of the game if your son is only 4 months old and you already know to be on the look out.
worse possible case and you find out your son is sick-- you'll know to where to go and what to ask (demand!!!) and your son will have every chance in the world for a complete and uncomplicated recovery.
For us.. very briefly.. (you can search here and find our story). I was infected 5 months pregnant, diagnosed with Lyme, but given only a few weeks of low-dose antibiotics with no follow-up, ever.
My son was almost 2 before I knew something was terribly wrong with me (MS was the initial diagnosis) and he was 4 before we knew it was possible that he had Lyme; he began tx shrtly afterwards, when his health declined abruptly and absolutely across the board.
We knew he had a co-infection because he went a good distance on purely Lyme abx then lost all progress within weeks, while still on those meds.
Which co-infection couldn't be determined, but his symptoms were consistent with babs, and so he went on 10 months of babs tx. he regained all the progress he had lost within weeks of beginning babs tx, so we knew he was on the right track.

congrats.....this is my wish for how our story will end.....gotta love happpily ever after!!
we are trying to decide how to begin with our boys as ffar as tx. herbal vs antibiotics
if you have the time: what symptoms did you notice? did he tx as abt only or did yall use the herbals/ homepathics??
worried about our oldest- 12. have GI complaints and all tests have been norm. probiotics do help. he is ADHD dx/meds since 1st grade. very small for his age. now having lots of complaints of joint pain, headaches, etc. hitting that puburty stage sooooo hard to tell what is what??
our younger 2 we worry about- they do not show symptoms. had some stuff at birth that LLMD thinks is lyme related. just dont know if we should go full tx or just use gentle immune support???
congrates to you!!!!!!!!! this mom/s hearts soars for ya....i have been in tx since 8/08. hubby tested + recently. (not really sympomatic) and his mom + too . think this goes back a generation on hubby side.

Thanks to you all for your generous expressions of support!
I am writing and will post my son's success story; it'll take me a while to finish it, because i want to put in one place every detail that i think might be helpful to other parents. I well remember looking everywhere for that kind of specific info about children and Lyme symptoms and treatment, not just at the beginning but along the way.

I feel so badly to hear how the little ones are suffering - I am so happy to know that your son is well and can now be the child he was meant to be. Just a word of caution - maybe you should keep him on some kind of herbal protocol that is easy to swallow (like cowden), just to be sure he remains safe.

Every day now I am pinching myself to make sure I am not just dreaming our son is well....
then i SEE him--he is happy, energetic, even-tempered, sweet,articulate, funny as all git-out-- and i am overwhelmed again by this miracle,
this second and in a very real way, more profound birth of our son,
his coming fully alive, for the first time ever- EVER!- in his whole life,
unburdened by disease and medications and by the fear that attacked him relentlessly, day and night.
thank you for celebrating with us too, Toots and Tin, Mom and Richie, Neffer and Jenty, Gael and Venus and Karen.
I swear i'm writing up the story. Being still Lymed, I've typewritten a full page and only have just reached the part about my son being born. How typically long-winded and rambly is THAT?

Dilly that is wonderful and will be inspirational to other Mom's.
Hugs to Blinkie. I can only imagine your worry about your new baby. Like Dilly said the good thing is that you will have a watchful eye to see signs asap and get him treated.
Dilly has DrJ said whether your son is more vulnerable to relapse or given you any special precautions for here on out with his care?
