Since I had a mega-collapse and ended up in the hospital in Dec., and have remained in a mega-collapse ever since, my period has been really short: 24 and 21 day cycles.

Up until that point, it had been super regular for years, always 26 to 28 days without fail, never more, never less.

The short cycles were so awful as I'm already so depleted and losing the blood would make me much more collapsed. A couple of times I stopped my period using an acupuncture point (moxa on SP-1) because I didn't think I would survive it -- literally -- as I was so so weak. This technique works great, btw. My period stopped within a few hours each time.

Anyway, for the first time since my collapse started, I had a 26 day cycle! I am hoping this is a sign the Rocephin IM injections are starting to work and maybe it's signaling some recovery?

Have others had the experience that their irregular periods normalized when they were turning a corner and what other symptoms got better at that time?

Men, feel free to weigh in on this too if you've got anecdotes to share (wives, gf's, etc., etc.)

Great news!

My cycles have been out of whack since November 2007 (before I started having Lyme and co sx), when I had my first 23 day cycle and a period that lasted 10 days.

Of course, that followed a very rough year--gave birth in December 2006, mom died in February 2008, had gall bladder surgery July 2008,

so it was attributed to stress and possibly perimenopause.

Since then my cycle has gone anywhere from 23-31 days, when before I was 28 days every month for as long as I could remember.

I'm only 2 1/2 months into treatment, and my cycles are still weird.

Two months ago was 29 days, last month was 23 days, and this month is 28 days and still waiting.

I don't know what's possibly from Lyme and what's my age (I turned 40 in March).

I just want to be regular again.

Hi LymeCFIDSMCS, I'm pretty whooped from actually for the first time since I got so sick years ago (2003/4?) went out and did something amongst a bunch of people fro a couple hours and walked around and everything outdoors.

I have been bedbound and/or housebound for years now. I don't go into stores or leave the house except for visits to the Doctor, which are very very rare. You might understand what a big deal this was for me.

This is all to say I might not be writing as coherently as I would normally, but I wanted to tell you that I had my cycle normalize with treatment as well! I used to be pretty normal, only would shift a day or two at most before I crashed with Lyme. Then I started getting pretty bad - 60-70 days apart sometimes, 45 days others, but it went down to normal ~28 days with several months of low doses of Ceftin.

It went back to normal gradually, so each month it was a couple or a few days closer to normal.

I take this as a great sign that my hormones are normalizing, and my overall health is improving. My PMS which has always been terrible (I had had Lyme my whole life) got much better recently too -NO PMS pain *at all* this last time, which is a first for me.

My daily temperature (when I am not running a low-grade fever) has also risen ffrom its typical ~97 to a normal 98.6, also something I have not seen in MANY years.

So, I'm another person to back you up and say yes this is good news and I have been there too. Keep on doin what you're doin, and congratulations!

Thank you for the encouragement!! I am glad to hear this could be a good sign.

I turned 40 in Dec., right around the time of my mega-crash. People were telling me THAT was perimenopause.

Nenet I hope the treatment continues to allow you out into the world now! That would be exciting. I absolutely do understand what a big deal it is to get out after being confined for a long time (though right now I'm just confined, but hopefully will get out there again some day).

My cycle stretched out to 51, 52 days at my sickest-back down to 32 days for the past 2 months on the kpu protocol. I supplemented with zinc 5 years ago and got the same result (was also in a period of complete remission for an entire year on the zinc)
