Hello All1 I have been on Omnicef twice a day for 3 weeks and started showing signs of of a yeast infection on Friday. OB prescribed Diflucan yesterday with a repeat dose on Tuesday. For any of you that have had yeast infections, what kind of dosing has your LLMD prescribed for you? My LLMD is out of town until NEXT WEEK so I am hoping to tell my OB what to prescribe in his absence. Any information is helpful!! Thanks so much!!

PS. Anyone have a frequent urge to urinate as a symptom of a yeast infection? Dr says that is what is causing mine but have never heard that before!

Are yout aking anything for preventative yeast issues? Are you on a candida diet? Used to, I could look at antibiotics and get a yeast infection............it was awful. Fortunately I do not have that problem now.

Are you taking probiotics? Yeast infections can cause the frequesncy issue you are talking about. Most LLMD's prescribe daily fluconazole or nystatin when we are on long term antibiotics.

There will be some others here today that will give you more information and links to do some research.......

Happy Memorial Day.......

Hi Tiffany! I have always been very sensitive to antibiotics as well. Since the beginning, I have been taking Florastor with each dose of Omnicef. I was hoping that would be enough to prevent this infection!!

I have never had a yeast infection that caused the urinary issues so thanks for easing my mind. I was questioning my OB a bit...shame on me!

I am going to have to look into the Candida diet. I just started eating yogurt but I am guessing it is much more involved than that! haha

Have a great holiday! Thanks so much!

Yogurt will not do the trick especially if it is the flavored kind full of sugar. You need to avoid all sugar completely and take an expensive probiotic, the kind that is refrigerated. You should avoid other foods that are high carbs, like corn and white flour and limit most grains. Sounds tough but you get used to it.
Grapefruit seed extract kills yeast and also the cyst form of lyme. I had the same problem with the feeling I needed to go all the time when I had a yeast infection.
