I never had a problem with my period until I got lyme and co infections 7 months ago... Now, I have more cramping and longer periods with spotting for almost 2 weeks..
I went to the gynecologist and she suspects based on ultrasound that I had a uterine polyp... Is that something caused by lyme or is it just a cooincidence?

I spent 10 years with screwed up menstrual periods. My first normal was after 4 months of abx treatment.

When I got really sick with lyme, I got horrrendous cramping each month. It was really unbearable. Also, eventually, my periods stopped. Then, after a while, I just spotted every month.
I was told I was in menopause. My ovaries became very, very small. I had to take hormone replacement to deal with some of the other menopause type symptoms I got which I will not describe on this board.
Once I got good (Burrascano type) lyme treatment, everything began to go back to normal, and, after a number of months of Burrascano type treatment, I was pre-menopausal again and tapered off the hormone replacement. Everything reversed!
During that time, they sonogramed my uterus so much it wasn't funny. They wanted to do other surgical procedures too, but I refused. I knew it was the lyme disease based on the Burrascano guidelines. And, it was.

Horrendous cramps, PMS before treatment. Now I spot on occasion, but haven't gotten a period in 9 months.

I have certainly had an increase in premenstrual and menstrual pain and discomfort. While my periods have remained regular, they cramping has increased quite a lot.
I have been taking antibiotics since Feb. The strange thing is that just this month, my period arrived not only with barely any PMS and cramping, it also arrived at least 1 week early. No idea why!
But I would rather have more frequent and largely painless periods than what I've had over the last year!

I started getting spotting issues myself about 6 months into the disease. I also had an ultrasound and they found a uterine polyp. My GYN did not seem too concerned.
I feel it is all from the disease. I never had any problems before becoming ill. I feel awful now and have horrid symptoms prior to my period.

I would classify my menstrual symptoms as debilitating: As noted above, I usually miss work at least 1 day/month.
Over years, my PMS began to include weird leg and back pain. I thought it was just me. Now that I know I have Lyme and deal with these symptoms daily, I finally know why my PMS gradually worsened as it did.

My cramping was debilitating too! It would last for days and was so bad it kept me up all night too!
Then I would have really heavy periods. I also had cramps like 2 weeks before. So I had only 1 good week a month!
I got tired of that real fast! My gyno told me it was ok to take birth control for those types of problems.
Of course I didn't know about the lyme then.
But it does work. I take Loestrin 24. It's suppose to give you a shorter period. But it gives me none!
Which is totally fine with me! I have 3 kids so as far as I am concerned they don't need to come back. LOL
Oh and I think my hormones were off balance anyways. Maybe the pills help?
