Have a symptom that is really concerning me. I seem to be more 'twitchy' in my left..... my left calf, left foot, left leg.
Could it just be the lyme affected that side more, or should I worry about it being something more serious since it is occurring so prevalently in that side? I'm worried about Neuro muscular disease

I got more Lyme symptoms on my left side. I never got twitchy, but I got sore.
Now that I'm better, my left side is weaker. In lifting weights, I had to lower the weight and watch myself in the mirror so I build the left side up to how strong the right side is. I am left-handed, so it's not that I use the right side more, this happened with Lyme.

My left side is also more affected. I am more twitchy on that whole side, whether it is my arm, hand, leg or foot. That side of my face is the one that droops. Before I started treatment, my left hand and arm were numb.

I have had cramping in my left foot arch; this cramping has gotten almost back to 100% but it does cramp on my worst days. I get a fatigued feeling in my shin sometimes. its real weird.

My symptoms have, until recently, ALWAYS been on my right side. So much so, that I was relieved my left wrist hurt, and not my right.
My twitches also happen on the right side, but muscle jerking is a full body phenomenon.

Interesting, I don't know about muscle twitches, but when I would get the jerking (myoclonus) it was my left side. Also my eye floaters are all in my left side, for my brother too.

Ok so after I workout I've noticed that I twitch like crazy in my left foot arch, and also I twitch after the workout in my left calf.
During the workout I feel like stiffness in my left calf and ankle and when walking afterwords if there is aches or pains its in my left leg, hip and foot.
Does anyone here have any thoughts of if this is part of lyme disease or can this be a neuro muscular disease like MS or ALS?

clint-I have muscle twitching in my left foot and calf only. It was my first symptom and I went running to a neuro because I was afraid it was one of those diseases.
Almost 5 years later I still have the twitching in my left calf and foot along now with pinpricks. I am right handed so am thinking the Lyme or co's chose my weaker side to reside in.
I had an EMG done and it was ok..my LLMD is not concerned since I have had it for so long without any kind of weakness.
I twitch more after working out too. I have tried everything but nothing seems to help. Some days it is worse than others.

The fact you CAN exercise Clint makes it less probable you have a neuromuscular disease. Have you ever had a thorough evaulation by someone who specializes in mitochondrial disorders?

No exams from anyone who specializes in mitochondrial disorders. I did have an EMG a year ago and there was zero evidence of neuromuscular diseases. It was a completely clean EMG. So I'm hoping since there isn't really bad weakness or progressive weakness really right now that it is a good sign.

I think that is a good sign Clint, but know that EMGs mean nothing whatsoever in the Dx of mitochondrial diseases. Muscle biopsies, CPK testing, lactic acid, skin biopsies, amino acid profiling, etc. are key indicators. EMGs are more geared towards ALS, Myesthenia Gravis, etc.
W/o weakness as a key component, I wouldn't be too concerned. I deal with weakness a lot. Also, cramping/spasms is a big sign. Easy fatigue upon exertion too. Usually mitochondrial diseases affect multiple body systems and wreak havoc (like Lyme). Posts: 7545 | From The 5th Dimension - The Twilight Zone | Registered: Mar 2008
