I'm positive for Lyme and haemobartonella/mycoplasma and have noticed a left-sided abdominal lump/bulge within the last week or so - maybe 2 weeks. It is located just inside the left hip bone, above my hysterectomy scar.

It appeared several days prior to a 3-day bout of severe constipation (a first), which ended this morning. I was hoping the lump/bulge would disappear after the constipation had ceased, but it remains.

Just prior to its appearance, I was experiencing severe left hip pain. The hip pain continues, though it is slightly less severe than it was since having several bowel movements this morning, but the hip pain seems to come and go anyway, so it's hard to tell.

I had started Mepron 'in case' I still had babesia just prior to its appearance, too, but had stopped it on my own thinking maybe that was causing the hip pain/bulging. My LLMD does not know I stopped it - I didn't want her to try to convince me it was just a herx. I know my body.

Any ideas? Would an abdominal ultrasound give me answers? I'm afraid of CT scans.

I have had left sided pain with what I thought was a lump or bulge (exactly how I described it) but I thought that it was my ovary. I am very thin, I've always been able to feel it when I pushed on it. I swore I was dying of a tumor for years (haha), when I finally went to the doctor, he said that the lump I was pushing was my colon or something and it was fine, it was just that the pain from my ovary drew attention to the lump which was supposed to be there....?

He said anyone my size would be able to feel that. But, my left sided pain has plagued me for 7 years now. It is in fact, my ovary, which I have had CT scanned and u/s MANY times and a CA-125 blood test to rule out ovarian cancer. I had nothing visually wrong with my ovary but it hurts so bad that I walk funny at times.

He said it has to be endometriosis or some kind of ovarian adhesion, but when I went to have a laparoscopy (sp), I found out that I had Lyme right at the same time, and I canceled the surgery. I never rescheduled. I just live with it now.

Sometimes I would have pain with bowel movements as well. Who knows. I am not saying that you have the same bulge I did, but it just rang a bell when I saw your post, so I thought I'd mention it.

But, since you have had a hysterectomy - maybe that would rule out ovarian issues? I guess that depends on if you had them taken out as well?

They ultrasounded me so many times, it was ridiculous. It did give me some peace of mind, however...it had me really worried for a long time.

If it persists, I would get it checked out. As far as CT scans go, I've been told that they don't hold a candle to abdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds for ovarian issues, but I had a CT scan with contrast I guess to look at intestinal issues.

The bad thing about Lyme and the thing that scares me THE MOST about Lyme is that some people seem to sit around and blame everything on Lyme, when in some cases, it might not be. I've tried to be like a lot of people and say "Oh, that's just my Lyme" for 8 months and now I'm scared because I should have gotten some things checked out. Everything is a part of the Lyme symptoms check list - but some are also symptoms of much more deadly diseases....IMHO.

Thanks, it can't be my left ovary though because they removed that ovary with my uterus several years ago.

I started taking digestive enzymes and l-carnitine, and those seem to be helping some of my pain issues. The hip pain isn't nearly as severe as it was - so far anyway.

Like you though I had adhesions and endometriosis - the reason I had my ovary and uterus removed.

That's what I was thinking too, bettyg! They are very painful and definitely cause "lumps".

Just my 2 cents. Take care!
