Has anyone had sucess with the buhner protocol? I need to buy the book, however some people say just using the samento, cumada, and adrenal support will work. What about mag ? what is the best source of it?

I know three people who have just given up and are not any better after many months of awful herxes. I know a fourth who says that she is sleeping better than since she was a kid, and has access to parts of her brain that she disn't even remember she had.

Buhner does not recommend Samento nor Cumada.

I clearly would not bet on just using Samento, Cumada and adrenal support. It may help but much more is required. This is a very complex path.

You need to get the book if you are considering this. You will need to read it over at least twice before beginning. And, even if you do not choose this, you will have learned a great deal. It is well worth it.

Have you been diagnosed with a tick-borne infection? Do you have a LLMD?

I've seen some help with what I can afford of this, basically the andrographis. The others are just out of my reach now so I cannot say I'm on the protocol.

Still, when I am on the andrographis, tinnitus is much less, the lyme seizures are greatly reduced and my sleep is much better - but I still hear my neighbors' snoring through my ear plugs.

I am very impressed with the research presented in Buhner's book. Zhang's is good, too. The are different from each other, but both are excellent.

I take Andrographis and Polygonum, 4 pills each, 3 or 4 times a day. I've been taking them for 1 1/2 years, or is it 2 1/2 years, i should check my notes.

I couldn't take the CatsClaw regularly because it made my tendons hurt after two weeks; but i take it every so often if i run out of an antibiotic.

I also take antibiotics, and other herbs.

The Buhner bok Healing Lyme is really worth buying; there's a lot of info there.

Ovbviously my treatment was not successful in leading to a cure, but i take the herbs for maintenance, need them , and can't go without them.

The andrographis doesn't give me GI problems because i always take milk thistle and other herbs to protect the liver.

from Polly Polygonum (i'm taking this new name)

Andrographis has some liver protective properties itself, but can be hard on the stomach. Milk thistle is a good added benefit but also, when you start andrographis, be sure to take just one in the middle of a meal.

There are some tick-borne infections for which Buhner says antibiotics are necessary and the herbal supplements complement.

More about the main herb, Andrographis below. While it sounds great, remember that it is best together with other herbs as designed:

I was taking cumanda before I received a firm diagnosis of Lyme by a LLMD. Herxes were horrible. I continued with it even while I was on abx. It was a waste of time.

I couldn't take some of Buhner's herbs either, but am considering cryptolepsis.

A few select abx helped me the most.
