The sodium in salt can cause a number of problems.
The recommendation for sodium is 2400 mg daily.
Most people consume 4000 - 5000 mg of sodium daily from diet alone.
Excess sodium can increase the blood pressure and yes risk of heart disease.

Table salt and processed salt are what deposits in the cells. They are stripped and devoid of life giving minerals. Sea salt is in a highly charged state it is not static and will not store in your kidneys but pass through you as natural salts are meant to.
We are 75% saline and it is very close to the composition of sea salt. The first thing they give you in E.R. is saline. We lose salt everyday and a lot of people are salt deficient. Google sea salt and you can decide for yourself and not be so misinformed.
I am not against antibiotics, but why doesn't anyone post some of the dangerous sometimes life threatening side effects of some of these drugs?

HI Gael:
I am terrified of this salt thing because of hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, kidneys....etc.
However, I have to say, I am feeling better on the salt/c thing than without anything alone. I am just trying to understand WHY sea salt is not as dangerous.
You said:
quote:Table salt and processed salt are what deposits in the cells. They are stripped and devoid of life giving minerals. Sea salt is in a highly charged state it is not static and will not store in your kidneys but pass through you as natural salts are meant to.
I am sitting here with my husband who is a Ph.D. chemist working in "chemistry central" in Basel Switzerland. It is the home and headquarters of Roche, Novartis, Syngenta, Ciba/BASF, etc. He has a very high job there, and is very good at what he does.
WE are discussing this quote above. There are nuances to dissect in it. For example, a salt molecule, is a salt molecule, behaves the same wherever it is in the body. If that molecule is contained in a "table salt" compound, or a "sea salt" compound, it is the same molecule with the same properties. NOthing changes that.
However, "table salt" and "sea salt" are buffered in different compounds, possibly changing the way the body processes the salt. So, it could be that other molecules that accompany the sea salt enable the body to process the salt molecule differently.
However, this does not address the original question of hardening of the arteries. My question is still not answered in my mind.
I think we are answering these questions in layman's terms, and missing some nuances of these circumstances/environments.
Sea salt and table salt are 98% the same thing, sodium cloride. It is the other two percent we are hoping change the behavior of the sodium chloride in the body.
This leaves me feeling insecure....however, one does what could be dangerous things as a desperate act to get relief from the torture of lyme/babesia...expecially when antibiotics fail.
I'm not sure that my above comments add to our discussion or not. They are just thoughts my husband and I are tossing around.

Hi Mary,
Sea salt is full of minerals making it bouyant, so to speak. Table salt is devoid of minerals and makes it a dead weight.
I have been on salt/c (sea salt) for over 3ys and all I can tell you is that I am healing and am 90% better.
What's interesting is that the person that came up with this protocol and owner of
takes the sodium chloride tablets and is symptom free after 6yrs and back to work. I was leary of the plain sodium chloride tablets myself and that's why I decided on the sea salt.
I am not a chemist, but I remember yrs ago they used to give athletes sodium chloride tablets when they were in training to make up for the lack of salt. We humans are 75% saline and close to the composition of sea salt.
I believe that infection is behind most illness including hardening of the arteries. If salt was so dangerous than our own natural body salt would surely kill us.
Google benefits of sea salt and sea salt enemas for some insightful information. I just think that the medical establishment has put irrational fear in us in reference to salt(the wrong kind of salt)
Sea salt and vitamin C are both water soluble and I drink a lot of water through the day. I also eat a lot of potassium rich foods. I am always open for an intelligent discussion and I do respect your concern.
I am not trying to sell the salt/c protocol, but rather trying to give people another option to get rid of this horrific disease. It has literally saved my life. The important thing to remember is to pace not race and drink lots of water.

I'm not on salt/c, but I thought I'd read that the salt tablets and Himalayan salt were the best to use for this protocol.

In the old days they used to say that salt hardens the arteries. Nowadays really no doctors say that anymore.
There are plaques now that narrow the arteries, partly due to the wrong kind of cholesterol and inflammation etc. They prescribe cholseterol-lowering drugs now for that. Ages ago they prescribed a low-salt diet to those with fluid retention because of heart failure. Wne diuretics were invented, the use of the low-salt diet stopped overnight.
