Last week I was given a script to start plaquenil and my LLMD wants a baseline eye exam before starting.
I am attempting to get an eye doc appointment in the next day or so.
Do you think I can actually start the meds a day or two before the eye exam?
My LLMD has not seen anyone suffer from the problems plaquenil can cause with eyes, but she wants to be sure I am covered.
So, is one or two days into treatment a bad idea?

Yes, this rare eye problem is due to long term treatment with plaquenil. I took it for 6 weeks and my doc just told me to get an eye exam within 3 months of starting it. Over time it can damage the retina, but its a rare side effect.
