Is it possible to develop allergies/sensitivities to most foods?

I honestly cannot think of a single thing I can eat without feeling weird and exhausted after I eat it.

I have done gluten free and/or wheat free in the past. It definitely helps with some symptoms. But this exhaustion and fogginess comes no matter what.

And I don't eat a lot of sugar, so I just cannot figure it out.

Do you still have a gluten-free diet? You said you did in the past. That usually helps, even if you can't always see the difference.

It also may just be part of dealing with lyme and co. The liver has to work hard to help process a meal. It could be due to that.

I had what you are describing did every food rotation, elimination no difference.

It wasnt until I had all amalgams out that it went away. I was amazed. The chewing was releasing something I guess. This was an unexpected result.

Just wondering if you have any mercury in your mouth?

I have the same problem and I've had a food allergy panel done and avoid everything that I'm allergic too, still have that problem. I've also had my amalgams out and have been doing chelation. I'm not sure what causes it for me either. Could be the mercury that is still present in my system.

MarsyNY said "The chewing was releasing something I guess."

That's 'something' sure wasn't glutathione or vitamin C i'll tell ya that. See this video...

Thanks for your responses. I never had any fillings, so no to the mercury. Glad it helped your, MarsyNY.

Keebler, that's what it feels like! I know the liver kicks in with its job after about 20 mins. It also happens 20 mins after I take vitamins. I didn't make the connection. Hmmm.

pryorka, I am going to look at your video link now...

OMG, that video is incredible. I have to have my husband get his mouth checked out. He had a bunch of nasty fillings put in years ago, and now he's complaining of brain fog. Hmm, again.

Have you tried a juice fast? Just wondering if you are as affected by fresh juices.
No mercury good so that's eliminated..

pryorka, thanks for the "smoking teeth" In my case the fog was from the chewing "mercury gas" according to that video. But it never happened on the juice fast days.

You could also be yeasty and have developed 'reactive hypoglycemia".

It might be worth buying a small blood sugar testing kit and see. I had similar issues right when I was going off abx. I gought a kit and I my sugar was in the 30's and 40's after I ate, and often felt like I was drunk. Which I was because yeast ferments your food.

Hi Mazou,

My thoughts from a completely different direction...not saying that this is what is bugging you, but thought I would reply as I had similar issues and maybe this will be helpful...

I was having a huge problem with eating and having exceptional exhaustion afterward - mind-numbing, head on the desk, can't think for an hour fatigue...

For me this was related to NMH (Neurally Mediated Hypotension) - with treatment the after-eating fatigue has diminished substantially (I can function now and don't feel the need to drink a gallon or two of coffee to keep going after lunch)

From what I can tell through searching on the web, many people with NHM (not-uncommon in Lyme) never have the definitive symptom of passing out, but often have more 'mini'episodes of low blood pressure 'attacks' that cause fatigue, mind-fog, etc...one such time that this can commonly happen is after eating...

Some quick thoughts:

-are you more tired after larger meals (vs. smaller snacks)
- do you have a low-salt diet

Here is a good article to start your own research on:
http://www.pediatricnetwork.org/medical/OI/johnshopkins.htm

Hope this is helpful

Thats so weird, I get just the same tiredness afer a meal & I never connected it to lyme. My husband thinks I just don't want to do the washing up! I'm gonna check my blood pressure after the next meal & see if its low.

Mazou,

The infections, bacteria, parasites, worms etc are sitting in the small intestines. You should check out the symptom list at

www.humaworm.com

Parasites and worms are a MAJOR part of Lyme disease Also

I always get this too, particularly after lunch and I connect it to the gut being leaky [and therefore more prone to react to foods] because of the bacteria and fungi that have been establishing themselves in the gut lining.

Avoiding common allergens helps a bit with me, but not dramatically; same with my attempts to heal the lining.

I don't think the gut gets a proper chance to heal whilst Lyme and co are in there!

Marsy, I have tried a juice fast. I am not tough enough to handle another at this time, but always dream of doing one again in the future. I was pretty dopey the whole time, but felt pretty good afterwards.

kensadams, thanks, that sounds really interesting. I will look into it.

Middlepanda, that's too funny! glm, I have thought of this, and plan to ask my PA during my next LLMD visit about parasites.

ukcarry, I think of this a lot. I hear a lot about people getting "off gassed" internally by improperly digested food. Like the whole spacey-gluten thing. This is where I'm going to start.

Thanks all.

How about a nice little walk right after your meal? That will help digestion tremendously.

I do agree, Keebler. I am often out and about with my 2.5 year-old, and I will get that feeling like I am walking through mud. Just so exhausted. But eventually I am able to push through.

You might try probiotics. My LLMD likes acidiophilis and bifidus and I also use saccromyces boulardi which works against candida.

Try a week on rice and one other thing that you can tolerate, such as a vegetable or turkey.

If the symptoms go away on that, then you can try to add foods back, one at a time, and continue eating whichever foods don't cause the symptoms, rotating of course.

Or have you done this?

I have this too and it is not just fatigue. It is an all over sick feeling. Woozy and flush and naseaus.
Not something a walk can help with I just can not move in fear of running to the toilet and vomiting or passing out.

It feels like there is poison released. Maybe upon the digestion system being activated there are toxins or gases related to the disease that are released all at once.

It does feel like someone just turned on the toxin flow button..

Figured I'd up this since it's something I've been dealing with for quite a few months.

Weird brain burning/tingling feelings.

Increased activity after eating...mostly after sugar/carbs/fruits, but recently I've notice sometime perfectly safe meals cause it as well.

It appears certain vitamins and minerals also set this off.

Laying down does seem to decrease the sensation.

When I wake up in the morning I usually feel my best, but once I get up the intensity increases even before I've ate anything.

Blood pressure is low than usual, but I haven't been able to associate it with when I'm having symptoms or not. Blood sugar also seems fine.

Either way it does seem like whatever's going on is blood related in some way.

Anyone else have this or have a theory?
