Can anyone please help me!! I was on Omnicef for one month and at about week three I started having urinary urgency. Went to OB to test for UTI and yeast..both negative.

Two days after the test I ended up with a massive yeast infection. Took diflucan for 7 days and got better. Then on day 10 LLMD changed med to Biaxin.

Three days after starting Biaxin uninary issues started again!!! I started diflucan immediately and stopped biaxin but now,on day 3, still no relief, though no itching yet.

I am going going crazy here!! Have any of you had such experiences?

I had someone tell me that yeast can cause urinary issues but is this something that is going to be constant?? Is it every going to go away?? I appreciate any and all feedback!!
Thank you!!!

YES most of us have had yeast unfortunately. [Frown]

I have been abx free for 6 months and still battling it!!!

Sorry to hear about your yeast problems. They are nasty, and can continue AFTER you stop taking antibiotics.

Diflucan will treat the issue but you really need to be combatting yeast every day with diet, detox, probiotics and antifungals.

Im not sure what your protocol (what meds supplements) you are currently taking, but taking diflucan only touches the surface.

Diet, Detox/Exercise, and Antifungals taken daily are what help you keep candida (yeast overgrowth) under control.

There has been gazillion topics on this topic if you search the keyword YEAST.

Here are a few tips I have posted myself:

You may want to call your doctor. You could need a prescription for Nystatin or Diflucan to get a head start on reducing your yeast. It depends on what other yeast symtoms you have and how bad they are.

Probiotics will NOT kill yeast. It just replaces good bacteria.

I take on average 70 - 100 billion cultures a day (my probiotics) and alternate brands (LIVE CULTURES)

Its not the amount of cultures but the number of STRAINS in your probiotics. Look for the ones with at least 8-10 strain in them.

Here are a few good tips that really work for me.

1. Take 2-3 times a day of good probiotics with high # of strains (yeast preventative)
2. Take Antifungals- 2-3 times or more a day - Oregano s great (yeast Killer)
3. LOW CARB/SUGAR DIET & Oral Mouth Care EVERY DAY
4. Detox-fiber, of your choice: lemon water, baths to kill toxins, exercise (within limits!! EVERY DAY

Probiotics ONLY replaces all the good bacterial the abx kills off and you need to keep taking these for months even AFTER you stop abx.

What works for me is to take 2-3 kinds of probiotics a day, refrigerated ones are the most potent. You can get some of these at your local healthfood store.

Renew Life Critical Care (50 Billion) 10 strains (i take this-it is great & over the counter)

Theralac Probiotic (only 5 strains-needs to be taken WITH others)
http://www.theralac.com/

Iflora Professional Stregnth Acidophilus
(20 Billion-16 strains) doctor can order for you or you LLMD may have a brand he recommends

Prescript Assist Pro-Soil Based and recommended by Dr. B

Here are few popular HERBAL antifungals to kill yeast:

Fungal Defense-good product
Oregano Force
OREGAMAX-works really good (i still use this product & it is not harsh)

Olive Leaf Extract, at least 15% - 20% oleuropein. I didnt have good luck with olive leaf ALONE as an antifungal, but I still take some.

Believe it or not, yeast starts on the tongue. It is really important to brush your tongue really good every day and rinse with antiseptic mouthwash such as Listerine. Dip toothbrush in bleach and rinse off every time you use it or you can reinfect yourself!

No Carbs or sugar!--Feeds yeast.

And oregano, garlic, olive leaf extract, grapefruit seed are all natural antifungal herbs. You can google this or search on herbal websites.

Best to rotate probiotics and yeast killers every month or so if you can.

You can manage yeast and still stay on abx but you must be faithful about your diet.. NO SUGAR/CARBS!!

PS. For the female lower region you can use yeast guard douches and/or vinegar and water which neutralizes the PH in that area

Good luck and keep us posted [Smile] [Smile]

gemofnj,

Do recommend a particular place for buying herbal anti-fungals?

I appreciate your listing the names of the products. I am eager to give them a try.

OMG...I can't thank you enough for the information!!! It is wonderful! I think I may take a few weeks off the antibiotics to start getting my body back on track and then start back up WITH a good protocol!!

Is there more of a concern if you have issues such as the urinary issues I have? I am going to look through the other posts but i have found very little in regard to yeast and urinary problems!! Just curious!!

And don't you worry, I will surely keep you posted on my progress! Thanks again [Smile]
