How many Lyme patients use it and has it been researched to be safe? What does it do for the immune system?

What symptoms have people been finding it relieves?

Thanks!

Chris

I am two days into it with new LLMD. Have been taking it at night with no problems. Could be my imagination, but I am not having nearly as much muscle pain in my back these last two days. Very vivid dreams.

My LLMD likes it.

LDN is probably the safest drug in the pharmaceutical world. It normalizes or boosts the immune system. There is differing opinions on which it does. I think it does both to a degree.

I use it for Crohn's disease. So far so good.

I loved the vivid dreams. Too bad they stopped after a while.

I don't seem to have candida issues anymore since I've been on it. If I go off of it for a week or two I seem to start having candida recur- that might just have been coincidence but I'm pretty sure that's what I experienced.

I read you can have sleeping problems on LDN, which I already have. I think that's what worries me most.

Hope someone has some input, sleep issues or feeling better?

If it interferes with your sleep in a long-term way (you don't adjust to it after a week or two), it can be taken in the morning instead.

The only downside to morning dosing is that you will be awake while the naltrexone is antagonizing the opiate receptors which can have negative effects on your mood and state of mind. However, you do adapt to that effect as well over time so that eventually its barely noticeable.

When I was living in NYC, I saw the big Low Dose Nalxtron Doc (probably 14 years ago). The drug caused some of the worst wake up screaming nightmares, torture, you wake up screaming and you're still in teh dream. After a few nights of that I had to get off. He switched me to a liquid where I could takle an evel lower dose. It's so far back, I didn't stay with it. I think it made my allergiess worse.

My son is starting his third month, it is so slow acting it is hard to tell just how much effect it has had.

He had insomnia and constipation when he started, both resolved after about 4-5 days. Other than that, no problems.

One of my doctors wants me to try it to calm down the autoimmune attack on my thyroid. I already had Hashimoto's thyroiditis pre-Lyme, and Lyme is just making thyroid issues go out of control, no matter how much we change dosing and thyroid meds. He thinks it will help modulate my immune system.

I haven't tried it yet because I am concerned about the sleep issues - I'm already sleep-deprived from myoclonus. But I'm tempted to try it, starting low.

Jill

I dumped out half the capsule and then slowly worked up over a week to the 4.5. So far so good.

I read in Dr S's book that people who are going to benefit seem to do so quickly, his example was a patient who called him excitedly after a week saying how great he felt.

This is not me.....I actually feel like I'm herxing from it! But this could be cause immune system is stronger? Weird.
