I've been getting weird waves/bouts of severe weakness. My body gets really heavy and shaky. I just feel totally wiped out and feel it takes all energy to move. It comes and goes sometimes hour to hour, but sometimes it can last for several days. IS this normal in lyme? It really worries me.

thanks

You are not alone. Happened to me last night. Has been happening to me for years.

My doctors told me its common for Lyme. But, for each person Lyme is so different. You might want to mention this to your doctor and see what he/she has to say about it.

Does your blood sugar get low at times? Try eating a piece of candy next time that happens. I have found sometimes it takes the shakiness away, generally speaking. My blood sugar gets low really quickly and then all of the sudden I am shaky and feel even worse. Sometimes when that mixes with all my other crazy symptoms it can get confusing.
It was my grandfather who recommended having a piece of candy with me for whenever I feel particularly yucky. It would always help, mostly because a little candy would make anyone feel better. Just a little pleasure to brighten your day.

I know, most of us should be avoiding sugar at all costs. but one piece might clear up some questions as to what is going on with your body when this symptom occurs.

(I personally do not avoid sugar. I can't. If I can not eat really fatty Icecream, I wither away in a matter of days. I was never able to follow the avoidance of sugar when on anti-biotics, and luckily have never had candida issues.)

Skyler,
I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.. I think I do get low blood sugar. I actually just posted a question on this a few days ago. Cause I get "attacks" where I feel really weak and shaky and very much resmbles low blood sugar attack. But wasn't sure it it is. I've never had this until I got sick.

Thanks again.

I suffer from this as well, I am the only person in my family that doesn't have diabetes or hypoglycemia. So, I recognize what high or low blood sugar does to a person, however, I have been tested many times for it and told I do not have it.

Before my dxd I would have spells like you described, and I assumed they were low blood sugar. So, I got a meter and started testing 4-6 times a day, especially during a weak/shaky period. My blood sugar was always normal.

Hyper/hypoglycemia are on the lyme symptom list. I have a brother who has "brittle diabetes" because insulin really doesn't help. In my opinion it is Lyme, not diabetes. But who am I?

I have had episodes of this too, and my blood sugar was always normal.

I just assumed it was something with the Lyme and cos.

Today has been really bad again--yesterday I felt as near to normal as I have since getting this damn disease, so I did a lot of housework and playing with the kids and stuff.

Now today I'm just wiped out and all over weak and have aor hunger really bad.

Plus today is humid too, which NEVER helps.
