I went to an ID back in May. I asked her to run

a CD57 blood test. She had no idea what it was

and had the lab figure it out. It was sent to a

Boston Hospital and then I think to Mayo. Well

the results were done by flow cytometry because

they had no idea what they were doing. However,

with a "normal" result and no numbers listed,

the flow cytometry has acomment on it stating

a peripheral smear contains nuetrophils, small

mature and activated lymphocytes , monocytes and

eosinophils. OK.

Red blood cells show occaisional

target and rare teardrop forms. This I am

worried about.

I believe I have

seen these on pictures of slides from this

website regarding PCR tests. Am I wrong about

that?

Should I say something to this ID doc or just

bring the result to an LLMD ?

The very last line reads

clinical correlation is needed.

Flow cytometry from what I have read is great.

But it is like every lyme test. If you don't have

someone who knows how to read it and get results

you have nothing. I would take it to my LLMD. He

should be able to put the pieces together for you.

I believe this may be equivalent to a PCR that many people have done. If so, then these teardrop shape things would be indicative of some of the same findings that appear on the pics of other pcr slides. I think I may have seen them here on this website.
