My son just passed a marble-sized white egg looking thing (sorry so gross)-

He's been bedridden and desperately sick 4 years with no positive findings in any blood or stool test

Has had clinical diagnosis of lyme etc.,but treatments keep backfiring.

Hoping to identify this possible parasite as it may give some clues- could anyone tell me of a very knowledgeable lab- he was in Asia before getting sick, and may have something unusual.

Many thanks

I had my testing done by Diagnos-Techs. They have an excellent reputation.

They have a website that is quite informative:
www.diagnostechs.com.

Be sure to look at all the information that is listed for physicians as well as patients. There are some good explanations of tests there.

Hope that helps.

If he was in asia and caught something most doctors here are useless. So there's always the chance it's not lyme at all. But in all honesty the best way to figure out what he might've caught would be to see a doctor in the asian country he visited. Thailand has great doctors when it comes to infectious diseases.

I know it might be expensive to do that but I just wanted to put the thought out there, because no infectious disease doctor in this country will ever figure out a disease they totally aren't familiar with if they can't even understand lyme and it's all over the U.S. Here the diagnosis are profit driven, in other countries doctors diagnose to heal.

So weigh the cost of a plane ticket with how much you spend here seeing uneducated doctors that charge a fortune and provide no results. You might be able to find one decent doctor somewhere here in this country that would understand exotic diseases, but remember that doctor will most likely not be mainstream. Other people might offer more suggestions.

Sorry about that. Something must be wrong with their website today.

I found a place called www.doctorschoice.net that will take you to Diagnos Techs in a round-about way. This particular website does not offer as much information, but it will give you a good idea of their services.

If you go to that site, click on DiagnosTechs and then go to the "Expanded GI Panel".

Hope that helps.

Their website is very good, so hopefully it is just a temporary problem.

I'm sorry your son is so sick.

You might even consider writing to or calling an individual who researches parasites...maybe someone who has studied them in Asia.... Not sure where to start on this...perhaps contact universities or medical schools or hospitals?

Also - don't let your specimin get lost or destroyed with the wrong lab...you may need to hang onto it for second opinions!

Please let us know what you find out. I hope this helps you get your son back to health.
