I've been on doxy for about a month.

I'm having worse symtoms than before I started.

Now I've got this problem of tons of mucus and cough.

Is this all part of it?

This is the pits!!

Don't know, but I have had bouts of a lot of thick clear mucous too. I had so much at one point that it felt like I was drowning in it.

Is your mucous clear? Could it be allergies?

Do you eat wheat? Dairy? If so, it may be best to cut those out for a while as both can cause more phlegm and mucous. And, remember, that a lot of plants and trees are still blooming.

It may also be your body's way of clearing out the old stuff, so to speak. Is the mucous moving on out or stuck? Ginger capsules or allicin capsules may help cut the mucous. Even ginger tea might help, too.

Thanks guys,

The mucus is mostly clear, sometimes a little yellow.

Nothing comes out when I blow my nose just runs down the back of my throat.

Sorry to be so graphic.

Also my husband has had a minor cold all summer-
sneezing and congestion mostly in the morning.

I guess someone can develop allergies even if they've never had them for 60 yrs., right??

With this Lyme, I can't tell anymore whether it's the disease or another condition.

I'm tired of this already and I've only been dealing with it for 5 mos. Who am I to complain.

Could be three things

1. allergies.

2. Your bodys way of clearing dead bacteria. I rmember pre Lyme, if I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection, mucus would pour out after a few days.

3. Possible allergy to the antibiotics?

I have mucous and coughing now, so severe I cannot breathe, and I think it actually might be pneumonia. I can't figure out if it's lyme-related or not. I just had a sputum culture taken to see if it's pneumonia but my sample was 'unreadable' so I have to do another one.

If you have yellow mucus that means you have some sort of infection -- it's probably not just allergies. Maybe get a sputum culture to see if anything else is going on.

I have had two colds while being treated for Lyme. Both times I developed a severe cough; dry, hacking and also productive at times.

My husband also got these colds and most symptoms were the same except the coughing. He never had that so I figured it's something related to clearing the Lyme.

My LLMD said Lyme settles a lot in the lungs and I got the worst coughing when she put me on the azithromyocin. Bad herx.

I will be so glad (understatement of the year) when this is over. [spinning smile]

You might look up something called "cough physical therapy." It is helping me a little bit with this.

A "Salt inhaler" was just posted by Carol in PA at another thread: http://tinyurl.com/n4mbxm

and

Lomatium tincture ( LDM-100) helped me finally kick a hard cough this past winter. Allicin capsules, too.

GINGER capsules will help clear phlegm but also calm a spastic cough.

==========

And, are you taking some good PROBIOTICS?
