It is one of the abx in a class called carbapenems, others in the class are Merrem, Primaxin and some others whose names I can not remember right now.
Some patients here have been prescribed them, a search for those names should bring up some results. I do not remember anyone indicating that they were a breakthrough drug, but I do think they worked well in some instances.

4seasons, has your daughter treated for babesia? The mood stuff could be babesia rather than bartonella.

Yes, she is currently on IV Zith and Mepron for Babesia.
We know she has bartonella, but we aren't treating it at the moment.
Maybe her mood stuff is a herx from the Babs treatment? But why would it disappear with the Ertapenem?
