My Dr (Dr R in nyc) said I was in remission after 8 months on antibiotics(oral) for babs,bart,lyme..
He said that I tested strong against them in the musle testing and that the remaining symptoms I have are from immune response
He said the immune system mimmicks active infections.. Has anyone else heard this? He wants me off of meds until my next appt in 8 or so weeks...
Its been almost 2 weeks and to a point, I feel better, but lately I've gotten really tired some days and brain fog... (He also muscle tested me for Candida which I was good with)
. I'm still taking nystatin though...Aren't people usually symptom free if theyre in remission? When should I worry? He told me not to panic when I felt symptoms... but I assumed remission meant feeling better...

Is your doctor ILADS-educated (even if he practices differently)? Was your total lyme treatment at least 30 weeks?
Sorry, but I can't really answer except that I'd sure be on it with allicin, andrographis or Olive Leaf Extract - all things that are good for anyone but will give you more protection and support.
You may also require more rest as your body is learning how to operate at full speed now. Are you still taking adrenal support as that is vital for everyone in our stressful environments?

You might want to look back over some of the guidance for exercise to be sure you are not overdoing it. You might still need rest days in between.

Anyone who makes a final determination of disease based on muscle testing is suspect to me. If the guidelines say 'symptom free', why bother? I guess someone's gotta stop somewhere, but that seems a bit ludicrous.

Yes, its the same dr from under our skin.. the famous one.. I think I should trust him as he has an amazing track record...
I just emailed w/the nurse there and she told me the body takes 2-4 weeks to reach equilibrium so to give it more time and then we will go from there

Maybe you should ask about a maintenance program like TOA Cats Claw (allergy research) just to be on the safe side.
I transitioned after 8 months of treatment to 1 x day for 3 months plus kept taking all my supplements, antifungals, and probiotics.
Not sure if this is your doctors philosophy but I guess if he is that famous he should know what he is doing.
So far I am still in remission after 6 months.

Wow if you hit remission in 8 months with Lyme and all those cos, I better make an appt with this doc!! That's awesome. Does he do conventional Abx as well as muscle testing? I had no idea any famous Lyme doc except for Dr. K believes in it. Interesting. Did you have aggressive treatment?

I went off meds at 5.5 months because I had the flu and couldn't keep them down, then I just felt like trying it. I was feeling great for three weeks.
My LLMD was supportive. BUT right on track on my 4 week rotation my Lyme symptoms returned, which for me are swelling and achy joints, fatigue, malaise, but mostly the arthritis symptoms.
SO I went back on antibiotics and supplements with support from LLMD -- who was encouraging and said treatment needs to last 9 to 11 months because of how the spirochete replicates.
So I am back herxing, but encouraged. I did get a little taste of what it might feel to be better.
My thought is that time will tell. And it sounds like you have a good doc.

Seekhelp-yes, he does conventional abx as well as muscle testing... He is saying remission but Im having trouble believing it right now.. I will give it two more weeks to see how it works out..
I was on omnicef, rifampin, mepron, and zithromax for a few months.. Then what really seemed to help me was Ketek and Mepron along w/nystatin powder
I am currently taking the supplements he recommended including arteminisin, coQ10, essential fatty acids, multivitamin, refridgerated sacchar..(probiotic), and culturelle
