I had lyme years ago and luckily found this website and good doctors and am doing fine now. My daughter was born with it and due to great doctors we were able to get her feeling well.
When I had it, the course of action by doctors was to give 2 weeks antibiotics and if that didn't cure it..it must be something else. They also didn't believe it could be in remission..that you just get rid of it.. I haven't checked in awhile and was curious what the thinking is now? Have things changed?

Mainstream docs are still clueless as far as I can tell. I am in an area of major hospitals known around the world and their top doctors told me their is no lyme in my area or such a thing as chronic lyme.
So in short, they are clueless as ever from my experience.

Unfortunately, I don't think much has changed. Every time I hear someone say they even got two weeks of abx I am shocked.
I went for years and could not even get a doctor to give me a Lyme test (even the crummy ELISA one) let alone any abx.
I am glad you and your daughter are doing well.

The doctors who choose to remain ignorant are becoming more entrenched, actually. However, there are a few doctors out there who are learning more. It is a dangerous thing, though, as their futures can be at risk the more they learn about this. Very sad, still.
The IDSA is still very vocal about lyme being no big deal. They still can't read, it seems - and they sure can't see anyone who is truly ill with lyme or TBD.
It is a tape of a great show on lyme disease done by a Boston TV station a few months ago.
When you get to the site, select the link to view the show. The show was taped by a girl on LymeNet and she put it on-line for all of us to be able to view it.
You will learn a lot about the medical controversy surrounding lyme disease and why it is so hard to find a doctor who knows how to cure a person of lyme disease.
