I tried the caprylic acid capsules from Now, and they really did a good job on the yeast.

I took two per day with food.

But after only 4 days = gi burning.

I stopped the capsules.

Has anyone figured out how to get caprylic acid down w/o irritation to the stomach and esophagus?

Thanks.

Suskat,

Here is a good article on how to avoid gastric problems with it. Basically it says take with food.

Hope this helps. [Smile]

Thanks! Maybe another form would work better, too, a tablet rather than the gel cap I was using.

It worked REALLY well and I hope I'll still be able to take it.

I'll have to play around with it.

It shouldn't burn, so it must be reacting to something in your tummy or upper GI (where yeast, protozoa, worms may exist). Candida Clear (Now Foods) has many, potent ingredients including caprylic acid...is that what you are taking? E.g., as I recall, it has caprylic acid, oregono oil, wormwood, cat's claw, pau darco, black walnut, olive leave...stong stuff indeed.

Mycopryl (Thorne Labs) encases their CA in mag-cal, so it will get further down the GI tract to slow release the CA. But all this (and other capules with this slow release design) are dependent on the GI tract operating somewhat normally from a PH perspective. The PH varies depending on the place in the digestive system -- it's really an incrediblly sophisticated system.

Maybe take a break and take some aloe vera juice and probiotics alternating every other day?

Just my 2 cents...

I was taking this stuff:

http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Caprylic-Acid-600-mg-100-Softgels/13376?at=0

I took it for five days at 2 caps/day. It seemed to prompt quite a herx...I was SO fatigued!!

I wonder if the burning was a herx.

Pre-yeast treatment I also had burning in my stomach, esophagus and mouth.

Since going off the caprylic acid my stomach feels better, but it still burns some.

Maybe will have to use it more sparingly.

I'm currently on an anti-fungal/probiotic washout for digestive system testing purposes. I can go back on my "meds" in a few days. [Smile]

Thank you!
